The time in which we are living is dangerous. It isn't easy when it comes to mental health. The ongoing pandemic is killing us from within, and we do not have anyone to talk to. We are yearning for that touch but somewhere or the other, and the situation is keeping us apart. We would never have imagined how desperately physical presence affects our mental health if it had not been this pandemic.

Mental illness is an abstract disease. You cannot see what is happening, you cannot feel, and a very vague image persists and a drastic behavior change. Several types of therapies can address this disorder. In recent times we have seen the rising of a treatment called Holistic Therapy.

Holistic Therapy to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Holistic Therapy is a type of therapy that provides an umbrella under which shelters various other therapies like:

  1. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  2. Mindfulness Training
  3. Meditation
  4. Yoga Therapy
  5. Teen Residential Programs

Among these, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a very scientific therapy and requires extremely skilled professionals. This type of therapy is undertaken when people do not control their feelings and have unhealthy thinking. There are specific cases when a person should go for this therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

If a person is suffering from low self-esteem, running away from responsibilities, finding it too difficult to cope with new situations and challenges in life, then probably it's time you seek out professional help.

The Treatment Process

If you have understood that you need help, you have already boarded because your mental health is in danger and you need help. So once you are fine with this, it's time you start seeing your therapist, and she will help you get on with the situation much easier. However, certain things that will happen to you in this situation is:

  • You will be able to recognize the source of your unhealthy thoughts
  • You will gradually start believing in yourself
  • You will be more confident in life as an individual
  • You will be able to recognize your situation and learn to handle it with full potential.

If you receive and accept the therapy properly, then chances are there that you will trace your learning curve. You will become a much better person than your previous self, and you will achieve a lot more.

Suppose you are a patient of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. In that case, it is very important for you to grow your sensitivity and for that, there are chances that your therapist may ask you to go on individual and group therapy treatment. The individual treatment will help you understand yourself more. The group therapy sessions where different people come and communicate with each other will help you put yourself in perspective with a set of other individuals. Group therapy is a type of specialized therapy carried on by one or two therapists, and then we have a group of people who interact with each other. Sometimes they come up with their difficulties and their problems in life. It is very effective and helps people to be more empathetic towards others.

This world needs more healing when it comes to mental health, and if you can heal someone while getting healed, then nothing can be as beautiful as that. Our reason to live and coexist on this earth will sustain, and hope and courage will be restored.
