Located on the shoreline of Queensland, Gold Sprawl is a sprawling city hugging the coast. Even though Surfers Paradise is the single most popular tourist spot in Gold Coast, there is so much more to this city that often goes unnoticed in the glitz and glamour of its popular cousin. Back in the day, this part of Australia was considered tacky but over the years it gained a certain level of sophistication that attracts all kinds of tourists to its golden shores. A range of swanky hotels now line the cityscape and a multibillion-dollar facelift has given Gold Coast a fresh lease on life.

That being said, if you have Tours Gold Coast in your itinerary, then it would help to know these local tips to help you get by and enjoy the city to its fullest.

Local Customs

Gold Coast is incredibly tourist friendly and is one of the most laidback places you will ever visit. There is good chance that you will find the locals smiling back at you. It is not common to tip in this part of the world as service charges are already included in the bill.

Currency

AUD, also known as Australian Dollar, is a readily available currency that is available in denominations fro AUD5 to AUD100. They can be bought and sold at the airport and anywhere in the world. However, it is recommended to buy yours from a bank or a hotel where you are likely to get better rates for your local currency. Debit and credit cards are also widely accepted throughout the country and most importantly in Gold Coast due to high influx of tourists. While Gold Coast is an expensive part of the country, it is still cheaper when compared to Europe or US.

Weather

The subtropical climate in Gold Coast has been a major tourist draw. It is sunny throughout the year with temperatures never going below 10°C in winter and 32°C in summers. However, the summers can be really wet but the rains are never prolonged.  

Local Transportation

When you are on a local tour or traveling in Gold Coast region, it is very easy to commute via local transportation. Buses and taxis are readily available. The bus service is available 24 hours a day and plies every few minutes. You can also take a shuttle service between bus stations. The best way to enjoy day trips in Gold Coast is to take the Aquabus that is available from Surfers Paradise Bus Transit Centre. There is also a train service from this spot that can take you to and from Brisbane. If you want to have more freedom to move around, then it is recommended to hire cars or taxis.

 

Gold Coast is an incredibly fun destination to explore with your friends or family members. There is something for everyone and the city is suitable for all age groups.
