Let’s look into the Track and Field Equipment List
by Kevin Smith Athletics Equipment AustraliaTrack
and Field is a sport that includes multiple events within one competition,
known as a meet. The events within one competition are known as a meet. The
events in any track and Field comprise running, jumping, and throwing events.
Track and field events involve agility, strength training, and specialized
equipment.
Let’s
look into the Track and Field equipment needed by athletes to win the
competitions or in simple practice sessions.
1.
Track and Field Banana Steps
Banana Steps are super fun, and they are used to improve your
agility, whether you are an athlete or not. They are small hurdles, usually 6,
12, 18, or 24 inches away from the ground. Use Banana steps to jump, run, or
skip over. They are made of PVC pipes available in vibrant colours, such as
yellow, green, and orange. Banana Steps weigh around 1 or 2 pounds and cost $10
to $20 per step, or you can buy six as one set for approximately $30.
2. Batons
Batons are for track athletes participating in relay events.
Batons are made of aluminium, and they can also be of plastic. Individuals can
use any baton for practice sessions, but for races, batons have colour codes
per team and are made of aluminum. Buy a baton for $3 to $5 or 12 for about
$30.
3. Crossbar
Crossbars are used for high jumps or pole vaults. The typical
crossbar is 13 feet and 1.5 inches long. It’s important to have the holders and
a landing mat if you wish to buy a crossbar.
4. Discus
A Discus needs to be on your priority list if you are a discus
thrower or want to give it a try. The weight of a discus can’t be less than 2kg,
4.4 pounds for men. It is around 1 kg or 3.2 ounces for women. The traditional
discus is made from wood with metal outside, but there are others made from
fiberglass.
5. Discus Carts
A Discus Cart can be used to save your energy and strength in
practice sessions and meets. A discus can carry twelve to twenty-four discuses
anywhere. You can buy a cart with carriers for shot puts, javelins, etc. A
discus cart contains 5-inch wheels to take it to the track stadium.
6. Finish Lines
A finish line is drawn on the track to point to the finishing end
of your race. Sometimes, finish lines are on track, but they are painted even brighter
for the races for meets. If you want to paint the finish line on the street or
backyard, use white spray paint, tape, or a string.
7. Hammer and Weight throwers
Hammer and Weight throwers are typically known as hammers.
Hammer throwers require at least one to compete. Hammers are available in
various colours, and an iron ball is attached to a metal wire with a handle.
Hammers weigh around 16 pounds and can’t be longer than 46.3 inches.
8. Hammer Gloves
Hammer Gloves help athletes to hold hammers tightly. The same
gloves can be used in the javelin and shot put. For practice, visit any store
to buy baseball batting gloves or gardening gloves. In competitive events, you
can’t wear gloves that hide your fingers. But your thumb would be covered.
9. High Jump Pits
High jump pits are needed when you do a high jump or pole vault.
The jump pits are made up of foam covered with a plastic covering. A high jump
pit needs to be 16.4 feet by 9.8 feet.
If you love to participate in track and field events; you have to
buy the corresponding equipment.
