by Sushma K. Digital Marketing SpecialistAccording to a neuroscience study conducted by McGill University, hearing music releases dopamine in human brain, which gives a refreshing and orgasmic feeling.
When the music is self-composed the degree of relaxation
increases and so does the associated good feeling. So, when it comes to playing
a beautiful musical instrument like guitar, the extent of joy and happiness is
immense. However, the pleasure of self-composing music in guitar can only be
felt when one knows how to play it, perfectly.
If you are a budding stage in desire to learn guitar, then here is
putting in brief points how you can start your jamming session with the
instrument. Composing wonderful music through guitar is not a one day saga and
requires both patience and dedication.
Before you pick your guitar, first set your mind with the kind of music
you want to play. From classical to rock metal, there are many genres of music
that can be played with the guitar. Depending on your taste of music, you can
decide which one you would play. Do not begin with the attempt of being
versatile, as it won’t let you master any form of music on guitar.
At the next level, your music performance through guitar widely depends
on the kind of instrument you pick. Guitars can be various forms like acoustic,
electronic, steel, resonator, bass and so on. The music you will make is hugely
dependent on the kind of guitar you pick. When buying the guitar, do not miss
to buy plectrums as at the first stage you won’t be able to use your hands
much.
Begin by learning the parts in a guitar. The basic parts of a guitar
that you should genuinely know are - strings, bridge, neck, head stock, tuning
pegs and frets. In case of acoustic guitar, there is a sound hole in the body
of the guitar where the sound resonates. For electric guitars, it has three
magnetic pickups.
During your initial days, right posture and positioning of guitar is very important to play good music. When you start learning guitar, first sit straight on a chair or stool that has a flat base. When you hold the guitar close to your body, the fat string should be towards the ceiling while the thinnest one should look towards the ground.
Rest your guitar on your leg and bend a little so that your chest
touches your guitar. Your right hand will be on the strings of the guitar and
the left on the neck of it, if you are a right handed. In initial days of
learning guitar, some pain on the back or neck is usual and this reduces over
time.
The strings of your guitar has names and you should know them during your
initial stage of learning. From the fattest to thinnest string of the guitar
they are named as E, A, D, G, B, and E. Each string delivers a specific kind of
musical note combining which you can prepare the music you want. To allow your
guitar deliver the right kind of music, do not miss to tune it regularly. If
possible, you can use a tuner for this purpose.
The guitar has frets which are metal strips that run perpendicular to
the strings and each of them makes one note. To play this note, you have press
in between the metal strings. Initially, this might include an unavoidable
buzzing. But the buzzing will slow down with practice. To avoid buzzing, try
placing your finger towards the lower string.
Once you learn playing notes, you can move to chords while learning
guitar. Initially you can play two types of chords in guitar - first position
chords, and barre chords. Next to this, you can learn C Major, A Major, G
Major, E Major and D Major. At the advanced level, you can try for C-chord,
G-chord, E-minor and A-minor.
The above is the very first few steps one takes while learning guitar.
The simple formula to become maestro in playing guitar is, you have to spend
time with the instrument and be committed during the learning process. Only the
will and wish to master guitar can make you a pro in the same.
