Learn how to make Pot Brownies

by Mark Johnson Marketing Head

Pot brownies, also known as marijuana brownies or weed brownies, are a popular edible choice for those looking to enjoy the effects of cannabis in a tasty treat. However, it's essential to approach this recipe with caution, especially regarding dosage and responsible consumption. Here's a basic recipe for pot brownies:

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cup (1 stick) of unsalted butter
  2. 1 1/2 to 2 grams of finely ground cannabis (adjust for your tolerance)
  3. 1 cup granulated sugar
  4. 2 large eggs
  5. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  6. 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  7. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  8. 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Decarboxylation: Before making your brownies, you need to activate the THC in the cannabis by decarboxylating it. Preheat your oven to 240°F (115°C). Place the finely ground cannabis on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake it for about 30-40 minutes, stirring it occasionally. This process will ensure that the THC becomes psychoactive.

  2. Infusing the butter: Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over low heat. Once melted, add the decarboxylated cannabis and simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring frequently. Be careful not to let it come to a boil or overheat, as this may degrade the THC. A thermometer maintains a temperature of around 160-180°F (71-82°C).

  3. Straining: After infusing, strain the butter through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl to remove the plant material. Squeeze out as much butter as possible. Allow it to cool until it's firm but still soft.

  4. Brownie batter: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8-inch baking pan. Combine the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract in a separate mixing bowl. Stir in the infused butter until well incorporated.

  5. Sift the cocoa powder, flour, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until the batter is smooth and well-mixed.

  6. Baking: Pour the brownie batter into the greased pan and smooth it out evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.

  7. Cooling and serving: Allow the pot brownies to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut them into squares, and you're ready to enjoy your homemade pot brownies.

Remember that the potency of your brownies depends on the strain of cannabis and the amount you used for infusion. Start with a small portion and be patient. Edibles can take up to two hours to kick in, so avoid consuming more too quickly. Always consume responsibly, especially if you are new to edibles or cannabis in general. Enjoy your pot brownies in a safe and legal environment.
