Procedures:

Connect your Launch X431 to your Ford.

Power on you Launch X431 device,and enter the menu to select “American”–>”Ford”



The you will see the info about Ford series software:

This program can test different Ford models.It currently includes PCM,ABS,4WAL,RCM,EATC,ECS,IABM,RAP,PAM,4X4,4WAS,CTM,OTC,ICM,PATS,ARC,LCM,DDM…

Select “Confirm”

Select “Automatically Search”



It will prompt a massage about vehicle info:

“VIN=LFPH4ABC871A08374

Vehicle=Focus

Capacity=2.0L

Engine Type=Gasoline Direct Injection

Fuel Type=Gasoline

Transmission=Automatic

Emission Level=Federal Emission

Vehicle code=DM5A-14C204-HA

Attention:The vehicle information is important.It is necessary to report this vehicle information (Incl Vehicle Code) to us.If there is a problem during the test.”

Tap “OK” to continue



First step:Select “System Selection”



Scroll down to find the option:”TCM(Transmission Control Module)”,tap it.



Launch X431 will show the system info about TCM

“Module:TCM

Type:Optional Equipment Module

Module Information:000BA543

Vehicle incode:0005C63”

Tap “OK” to continue



Select”Special Functions”



Select “TCM Adaptive Learning”



Caution:This function will change the status of vehicle

Tap “OK” to continue

The it will come a massage about TCM Adaptive learning as below:

“This function allows the TCM to learn new parameters after a component replacement,which must be perform as recommend in the service manual procedure.This function will reset the TCM parameters and execute a series of routines to allow the TCM to learn clutch,shift drum,and TRS parameters.

If these function are not performed as recommend,it will effect transmission operation and performance.In some cases,the service manual may recommend performed these functions to diagnose transmission components.If there is a mechanical failure or electrical concern with the related system,the function may fail.”

Tap “Yes” to continue

It will prompt you to “Set the ignition switch to on”,follow to operation then tap “OK” to continue.



Select “Clutch”



Perform the function as recommend in the service manual procedures.Do you wish to continue?

Tap “Yes” to continue



Make sure the transmission gear selector is at “PARK” position

Depress the brake pedal and hold.



It pop-up window as below massage:

“Resetting adaptive values

Touch point adaptive for clutches A+B

Friction Coefficients A+B

Clutch Compensation

Clutch Position Compensation

Clutch Torque Compensation”

Start to set the clutch parameter one by one,the tap “OK” to continue



After finishing,it prompt massage as below:

“Start engine or crank for 5 seconds if engine does not start

Note:Do not depress the throttle pedal”

Tap “OK” to continue



“Make sure that the transmission gear selector is in the PARK position.

Depress the brake pedal and Hold

Press the accelerator pedal to the floor,so the engine reaches maximum speed during WOT(Wide Open Throttle)”



Tap “OK” to continue

Return to idle:

“Initiating the clutch touch point adaptive learn for clutches A and B

Note:This function will attempt to learn the engagement travel of both clutches by engaging direct drive/overdrive gear ratios and progressively engaging both clutch elements.Enging load is monitored while the touch point is in progress.It is critical that the touch point is in progress.It is critical that engine load remain stable.Release Of the brake pedal or varying engine load will result in adaptive learn failure”

Tap “OK” to continue.



Clutch Adaptive Learning

“It is recommended that the engine is at operating temperature.The transmission must be in the park position and all vehicle electrical accessories must be turn off.

Note:It is critical that the AC compressor is not active during this routine.In rare cases,mytouch equipped vehicle may automatically turn the HVAC system back to on state following an ignition cycle.Make sure the HVAC is turn off before proceeding with touch learn process.

Depress the brake pedal and hold”



Tap “OK” to continue

Counting down 30s to wait for engine get stable idle.



Routine has been successful by the TCM

The successful completion of the clutch touch point adaptive learn eliminates the need foe the adaptive drive road test.



Tap “OK” to continue

Set the ignition to the off position

Then the TCM will power down.
