Kitchen Appliance - Advantages Of An Induction Cooktops

by Divya K. Shopping
Induction cooking is one of the latest methods of cooking that doesn't require a gas stove or flame. The process of induction cooking employs the usage of induction heating to heat a vessel. For this to take place, the induction vessel must be equipped with a ferromagnetic metal bottom so that it functions effectively. The development of the induction cooktop was first introduced in the year 1973 when a company named Westinghouse decided to make the Cool Top 2 Induction Ranges. The model seemed to be fairly successful and since then many other companies decided to make Induction cooktops as they were safer, more convenient to use and offered versatility in cooking with less chances of mishaps as compared to gas-based equipments.

Induction stoves are often developed as single piece, standalone units or they may be a built-in surface in most homes or kitchens. Either ways, the induction cooktop surface primarily consists of a basic design that includes an electromagnet that is encased underneath a hardy, heat-resistant glass ceramic sheet which is also tough and has low thermal expansion. The sheet can be easily cleaned and does not require too much maintenance. The induction vessel is placed on this sheet and once it is switched on, the entire surface area begins to heat up, thereby heating the vessel and cooking in the process. The advantages of an induction cooktop includes easy portability, the zero requirement for a gas pipeline, less possibility of burns or steam outbursts, relatively quick cooking, easy to switch on and off, mitigation undue shocks and the inclusion of many vital buttons for easy regulation and functionality. Moreover, the concept of cooking without a flame ensures optimum, overall heating and since the flat surface does not directly heat up, the possibility of food getting burnt is much less.

Modern day households are more inclined to use induction cooktops because of their easy-to-use mechanism, thus saving effort and time as compared to a gas-based appliance. Induction cooktops require special vessels that are compatible with the appliance and hence it is enough if you invest in a few standard, induction-friendly utensils. Not only is induction cooking popular at small households, it is also being used at restaurants, hotels and caterers. Some of the popular brands that boast of excellent quality induction cooktops are Prestige, Philips, Wipro, Morphy Richards, Havells, Butterfly, Kenstar, Khaitan, Kenwood, Onida, Euroline and V-guard.
