Kids & Superfood Protein Shake Mix

With the increasing popularity of protein shake, nowadays one can see ready to use superfood protein shake mix in supermarkets. This is one must meal for the one who are into muscle building or the kids who into playing sports on a daily basis, as they need additional protein to fuel their workout session. This is true that their body needs more nutrients at the period of intensified workout as compared to lazy day and superfood protein shake can be best alternative for this but chemical protein shake mix are not the best bet for this that is handily available on the market.

Protein requirement of a kid –

As per the institution of Medicine, daily allowances of protein are –

-          34 grams for kids of 13 years

-          46 grams for girl child of 14 to 18 years

-          52 grams for boys of 14 to 18 years

Few of the protein shake mix offer 80 grams of protein in every serving. This is relatively very high as per the recommended dose for a growing kid.

Varieties in Protein Powder –

Protein mix can be made from various ingredients and the most common are casein, whey, pea, soy, hemp and rice. Every variety carries its own cons and pros. For example, whey is whole protein, which is easy to digest and absorb into the bloodstream. Whey protein deliberation is preferable to the whey protein isolate. However, casein and whey proteins both are derived from the dairy. Hence, the one who are lactose allergic may have some difficulty in digesting it. Soy is a potential allergen and most of the soy in the US has been heritable modified that be also health concern. Rice, hemp, and pea are not a complete source of proteins, hence are best used for supporting other sources of complete protein food rather than a meal replacement.

Of course, there is nothing wrong to drink such supplementing balanced diet with occasional ready to use superfood protein shake mix. The concern main arises when one mainly in their growing age uses, such powders rather than eating sufficient whole foods. Hence, one should beware before buying antioxidant supplements and adding in your kid's diet on a daily basis.

Additional risk factors arise when a growing kid consume a huge amount of such proceed powders. Many of them are loaded with unhealthy ingredients like artificial sweeteners, artificial flavoring, untested herbs, heavy metals and antibiotics.
