Fire safety is of the utmost importance in every establishment -  residential or commercial. As much as it is the responsibility of the construction professionals to install the fire safety features, as company owner, it is your responsibility to ensure that your workplace complies with all applicable health and safety regulations.

To ensure the safety of your staff and the other assets, it's critical to understand all the building regulations pertaining to fire safety thoroughly. Fireproofing companies is a top priority regardless of what type of office you run or how many people you hire.

High-rise buildings and skyscrappers are especially dangerous places when there is a fire. Fires can spread very quickly between floors, and the higher the height, the more complicated it is for firefighters to extinguish the flames. However, apart from the serious business threats that can cause loss of valuable records or lead to financial consequences of a temporary business closure, it also pose dangers to people's lives.

How to carry a fire risk assessment?

·       Identify the open electrical fires – make a note of if something that might cause a fire or easily burn is discovered during the inspection of the building

·       Determine who is at risk – typically, the risk is higher for specially-abled individuals and elderly; make sure to take proper route in case of any emergency to save these vulnerable people

·       Take action based on your results – After the assessment from the fireproofing contractors, do not delay to reduce or eliminate possible threats.

·       Keep a record of your findings- develop an emergency plan, and provide fire safety instruction to all the employees.

·       Review – A fire risk assessment must be performed on a regular basis, and all the results should be reported and updated.

There are a range of considerations that must be made during a fire risk assessment to ensure that it is done correctly and systematically. Planning emergency pathways and exits, fire detection and safety systems, and the necessary firefighting equipment are all part of this. It's also essential to provide relevant training to employees and those in the workplace, as well as adequate staff training.

Tips for fire prevention in the workplace

At the end of the day, make sure to switch off all electrical equipment. It goes without saying that electrical appliances will quickly overheat or fail, which can germinate into a significant fire hazard in the workplace. All appliances should be switched off at the end of each day to avoid a disaster occurring overnight.

Overloading electrical circuits with more than the permissible strength will cause the circuit to blow, the fuse to overheat, and to blow, posing a serious fire hazard.

Just smoke at the designated smoking areas that ensures all smoking materials are extinguished and safely exposed. Never store the cigarette buds.

To prevent excessive heat and friction sparks, keep up machine maintenance. Ensure that all machines are tested and maintained on a regular basis.

Maintain clear access to electrical control panels. There should not be anything stored directly in front of electrical control panels so that the device can be shut down rapidly in the event of an crisis.

It's important to make sure that the working environment has the right kind and amount of fire extinguishers. And, everybody in the place should have a working knowledge of how to use them properly in the event of a fire.

Sprinkler systems and smoke detectors should never be blocked; nothing should be in the way of these potentially life-saving devices, which play a critical role in putting out fire.
