Journaling Prompts To Get On With

by Jhon Robson Journalist

If you have started writing your journaling diary, you may find yourself facing the centuries old problem faced by many writers; that of where to start. In times like these, it always helps to take some journaling programs that can give you a good amount of help with journaling questions. Similarly, even if you are teaching journal writing, giving out the right journaling prompts and journal writing questions can prove invaluable to help out.

Before you get started with your any one of the many journaling programs, you must understand the difference between a journal and a diary. While you may only keep a record of reactions and thoughts in a diary, a journal has the capability of being much more than that. A journal can be a more formal repository of everything that inspires you or appeals to you. So, if you are beginning to work on your journaling diary, you can surely do with some of these journaling prompts to help you be well on your way:

-  If you are looking for journal writing questions, you need to first make sure that you carry them and your journal around at all times. The current generation, however, presents us with many alternatives. With the available technology, you can always record your thoughts in the form of sound, video or words with all the fancy gadgets you carry around.

- This may be one of the old fashioned prompts that not many people teaching journal writing may tell you. It is important that you make handwritten entries in your journal. Many people often feel detached from digital files created on their computer and often give up on their journaling diary endeavors. With a handwritten journal, you can always be sure of the personal touch that will keep you coming back to write in your journal. Again, with computers, you always have the ability to edit your thoughts and this can never be good if you are looking to be absolutely truthful to yourself in your journal. We edit out our first strong impressions.

- When using journaling questions and journaling prompts, it is quite easy to forget about the broader aspects of journaling. Do not let your attention to grammar and spelling stem your flow of thoughts. A journal, at the end of the day, is all about spontaneity and anything getting in the way of your spontaneous reactions should be done away with.

- Anyone teaching journal writing can enlighten you with a whole lot of prompts and tips to make things much easier. For example, your journal can be about goals for the future, reactions and thoughts throughout the day, inspiring quotes, books to read, poetry, reactions on the music you love, grocery lists, to do lists and everything else under the sun that may interest you.
