JoSAA will conduct JEE Main Counselling 2015

by Chandan Singh Blogger
The JoSAA 2015 will be conducting a common counselling process for the seats of the undergraduate engineering courses at the institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs and others. After inclusion of the new IITs and IIITs, the total count of the participating institutes as per the official source is 88.

The counselling will be an online process which will allow the candidates to fill in their choices and get seats, which will be based on the rules and guidelines. The struggle of the two counselling process will be spared for the candidates who have qualified both JEE Main and Advanced 2015, thus saving time, money and energy of the concerned candidates.

The JEE Main Counselling 2015 will be based on the following factors :

  • The category (General, OBC, SC/ST, etc.) of the candidates.
  • The All India ranking position of the candidate.
  • The academic programs preferred by the candidates.
  • The candidates eligible for different seat categories or seat quotas.
  • The business rule.

The JEE Main Counselling 2015 will prepare the rank list as which will consist of:

  1.  Common Rank List (CRL), and it will include candidates assigned to the tag GEN, GEN-PwD, OBC-NCL, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC, SC-PwD, ST or STPwD. Foreign nationals will also be included in the CRL prepared based on JEE (Advanced) 2015 only for seats in IITs.
  2. Rank list of OBC-NCL
  3. Rank list of SC
  4. Rank list of ST
  5. Rank list of CRL-PWD
  6. Rank list of OBC-NCL-PWD
  7. Rank list of SC-PWD
  8. Rank list of ST-PWD

The rank list for the initial courses are going to be separate for the admissions to the IITs and ISM and the list will be based on the performances of the candidates in JEE (Advance) 2015 by the JAB. The candidates applying on the basis of JEE Main 2015, their ranks will be provided by the JEE Apex Board and will not be changed, even if there is a tie, as no tie breaking norms will be applied for candidates, hence a candidate can apply in one or more ranks.

For the admissions and seat allocations into IITs, IIITs, NITs and other GFTIs, there will be three counseling rounds in all institutions. For the IITs, there will be a counselling of preparatory course round. And for the admissions into IIITs, NITs and GFTIs, there will be a third round of counselling. For the allocation of seats in the in various categories, there is a proper sequence, which is :

  • Firstly, for all the candidates to the academic program at the IITs.
  • Secondly, all the candidates to the academic program at the ISM.
  • Thirdly, all the candidates to the academic program at the IIITs.
  • Fourthly, all the candidates to the academic programs at the NITs and BITM in the home state.
  • Fifth, all the candidates to the academic programs at the NITs and BITM in other states.
  • And lastly the other state candidates to academic programs at the Other-GFTIs except BITM.

There is a chance of upgradation of seats after the first round, but there are certain clauses for the upgradation, such as:

  • The seat allocation of candidates may be in more than one sear category and this depends upon their category tag and rank lists in which they appear. The situation may be the same for the home state candidates in Other-GFTIs (excluding BITM).
  • The candidates will be automatically considered for upgradation of seat category in subsequent rounds of seat allocation, if the allotted seat is not in the first seat category. But with the upgradation of seat category will not change the academic program or institute allocated to a candidateThe JoSAA 2015 won’t be holding on spot admission for seats to 42 self-financed Deemed Universities, Universities or institutions, thus from this year candidates will have to apply individually to these institutions.
