John Rutan political campaign to represent Ohio

Public service is not about the person holding office, it is about accomplishing the needs and desires of Ohioans. To do this, I believe in representing what is best for the people over my own desires. I am an American first and Republican second.

Therefore, my campaign is to ensure that I honor the following facets once I get into Ohio house of representatives.

Honor the Institution

Thomas Jefferson did it. So did Bill Clinton and George Washington, and Alexander Hamilton. They worked tirelessly to make representative government work. Today, the well-being of your state legislature is in your hands. Legislature service is one of the democracy’s worthiest pursuits. It is an important duty that deserves our time, attention and dedication. To work well, Ohio federal legislators need to bond with the citizens. Tearing down government diminishes a representative’s ability to solve problems in the legislature.

Take the High Road

I believe that if it won’t “read good” tomorrow, don’t do it today. This is the best rule that I plan to follow when judging those instances that are perfectly legal, but could look bad. I strive to remain privy to the state’s ethics codes and adhere to them. New legislators are rarely prepared for close scrutiny of their behavior on the institution.

Stay in Touch with Constituents

I look forward to communicating effectively with my constituents. Though this can be an overwhelming task, I know it is critical and would like to listen to as many views as possible from the ground. It’s my duty to know who you are, where you are, and what your plights are. It makes the job more interesting when you really know your people, and that is one of my priorities. Remain a Problem Solver

I appreciate that controversial and inflammatory issues will arise time after time. However, my office will use the relevant skills to help the community find solutions. Whether it’s the location for a new school or closing a given institution, I want to work with the right state agencies and local governments to find the best solution. It is not okay to take sides on clearly local issues, but rather, serve as a resource for information to help come up with the best solution.

I believe District 17 deserves Rutan V. Republican Party which will provide voice and results. Rutan has a plan to help provide the basic necessities, lower taxes, increase job security, home security, infrastructure improvement, technology expansion, a disciplined education system and reformed prison system.

If elected by the great voters of District 17, I will use my heart, humility and passion to make Ohio a better place.
