Is it possible to crack JEE Main & Advanced without traditional coaching?

by Kaysons Education Kaysons Education

JEE, the quintessential exam to enter into the best engineering institutes of India is divided into 2 tests – Main and Advanced granting access to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and IIITs respectively.  There are various methods for students to opt in terms of the coaching and learning methods. However, all the road converges in terms of their goal to secure a seat in these coveted institutions. Coaching method should be a personal preference rather than made by following the mass and attempting to pull off what is popular. It is of extreme importance to assess your own situation and only then it is possible to find the best route. This article will assess the traditional coaching methodology against the emergent IIT JEE Online Coaching methods and help you choose a path.

Factors

1.      Faculties: While the offline coaching is guaranteed to have more experienced faculties, it is important to understand that the coaching institutes divide their entire batch into multiple groups and due to time constraints, only the top batch students get to learn under the maestros. This problem doesn’t occur in an online coaching method since the same teacher is accessible to all the students in multiple screens. Also, the new age teachers seem to be more interactive in their approach to students.

2.     Quality of Education: The education in the offline coaching industries are provided by the best of the teachers but they have the constraint of the Chalk & Board method where the teacher is limited to use the conventional methods. This problem is eliminated in online video lectures with the use of animation and graphics making education more interesting and thus inviting attention. While offline coaching’s quality education can’t be ruled out, it’s too difficult to not welcome the innovations of technology.

3.     Guidance: The top batches in offline coaching have access to certain methods, tips and tricks that are available to no other and this is a big plus but it is limited to only a very selected percentage of students. The best students are groomed and well guided which converts their potential but it leaves out the majority as well. The guidance in terms of time-table, 1-1 interaction is bridging the gaps in terms of online education. While the top batches enjoy the premium benefits, in an overall scenario, online education seems to have a better sense of guidance.

4.     Environment: This factor can make or break your decision, quite literally. The inability of some students to cope up with a new setting disturbs, unsettle them from focusing on the primary. The change in weather, the over-competitive peer group and food together constitute the environment in the coaching world. While the environment can be a setback in offline coaching, online coaching doesn’t seem to have the comfort of home. Now, the comfort can push the student to be complacent and a proper educational setting brings the best in some students while not in others. It is for the student to choose since the environment in coaching meccas can be both propelling and problematic depending upon the student.

5.     Doubt Clearance: Offline coaching is ahead by quite a big margin in this area. Online coaching is trying to catch up with their facilities of doubt clearing. The downside is either the price or the limitation in terms of the questions to be addressed. Kaysons and Etoos have however managed to incorporate a nice doubt clearing platform and is marching ahead. Online coaching, however, is helpful for students who have difficulty in communicating the problems in a classroom environment.

6.     Availability: While Kota is considered a hub for students, not everyone is lucky or precisely resourceful to avail the facility – largely the economical deprived and female students due to reasons of finance and conservatism. Thus, in this scenario, online coaching can emerge as a fantastic solution for the students. The e-learning facility is portable, i.e.,can be accessed from anywhere and provides quality education, emerging as a far better option than to enrol in local coaching tuitions.

7.     Pace of Learning: Not every student is designed to follow a strict schedule with fixed class timings and these become even more difficult for students who do not join a dummy school.   Students who fall ill or miss lectures fall into the trap of backlog and find it extremely difficult to cope up with the concepts. These problems do not exist in online coaching since you can learn anytime. However, a lack of deadline might make the students slack which requires to be addressed with proper self-discipline as well.

8.     Concentration: This is a major disadvantage in terms of online coaching. However, it is important to understand a student with strict goals will have better self-control and will anyway be under parental guidance. Distraction in itself is not a stranger in the coaching hubs either in many hideous forms. Although offline classrooms help to retain the concentration of students better, there is not a stark difference in terms of online coaching either.

9.     Cost: The cost is exorbitant in case of offline coaching institutions and there are no two ways about it. The next optimal solution is to buy a distance learning program which is however not comprehensive in nature. Kaysons, however, is a leading e-learning platform providing all the facilities at a cost of Rs. 25,000. Etoos follows next but with cost over double the price i.e., Rs 50,000 – Rs 60,000.

We have tried to cover as many factors as possible and is almost comprehensive. The offline coaching system is the ideal choice for students who are sharp and can afford the cost. However, while considering education, it would be highly unfair to consider a narrow spectrum of students. Thus, we have covered all the bands of students and online coaching comes out as a better overall solution standing against many difficulties that most of the students face. With the shift of technology, we need to adapt to the changes and choose the best possible options for us. To summarize, yes, JEE Main and Advanced can be cracked without offline coaching, all of that, while saving on the finance and other areas where students find difficult to adjust. There are many solutions in terms of online coaching such as Kaysons, Etoos, Plancess, Toppr, Embibe etc. which are emerging to provide time-effective and economical coaching solutions. You can review them and find out the best solution for you.
