International FA course is about to get a national flavour
by Suraj K. News reporterThe much prestigious English FA’s
International Coaching License Course will have a representative from India.
Among those who will get the opportunity to learn the best techniques and
practices of the game from St. George finishing school will be India’s Anjana
Turambekar. She is an aspiring coach working with All India Football Federation
(AIFF) and also in the Grassroots Department. Turambekar is an A C Licensed
Coach herself and is an AIFF nominated candidate of Asian Football Development
Programme (AFDP). She will be take part in two week course which has been
scheduled to take place at the Football’s perennial centre FA National Football
Centre.
In tune with the FA Bursary scheme, this course has been designed to showcase the facilities at St. George’s Park around the globe, while offering expert coaches the opportunity to enhance their learning in a world class sporting ambience. This course complements The FA’s Memorandum of Understanding with FIFA, where all the skills, knowledge and techniques are to be shared with FIFA member associations. The FA provides enough funds the candidates with sufficient course fees, flights, UK transfers and accommodation for the period.
Turambekar is highly elated as she comments, “I feel humbled to be the Asian Football Development Programme (AFDP) nominated AIFF candidate and I take distinct pride that I will be able to be a coaching ambassador for AIFF during this course.” The coach thinks that AIFF is having an excellent mentorship under AIFF President Praful Patel in the recent years. It has been quite a strong platform for the coaches to garner relevant experience to fulfil The FA’s merit selection criteria. She wishes to introduce high standards in order to be value added candidate.
The course will be attended by total 29 participants from USA, Canada, Brazil, China, South Korea, Switzerland, South Africa, Taiwan, Uganda, Egypt, Afghanistan, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Laos and India. In order to select the candidates, the FA works with a number of partner bodies in order to select coaches from diverse backgrounds. All the candidates are coming with immense potential as coaches in their countries. With the FA International Licence, AIFF perhaps will be able to give India a gateway for further coaching qualifications such as the UEFA Licence or equivalent in each confederation.
With Praful Patel contributions towards the
development of the sport in the country, AIFF is taking major initiatives in
terms of refining the skills of both the players and the coaches. The recently
conducted grassroots programme and the youth developmental scheme are adding
more benefits to learn best practices and modern approach towards the game. The
efforts of the organisation is taking Indian football to an international level
through series of workshops, training programmes, inter country friendly
matches and also revitalising the structure of the existing games like
I-League. This is the time when Indian football is witnessing a golden period as
it is getting immense global exposure through much hyped Indian Super League
(ISL) which is involving top notch celebrities, sportsmen and business tycoons.
