Oral
contraceptives come in packets of 21, 28, or 91 tablets to take by mouth

contraceptives with food or milk. The oral contraceptive should be taken at the
same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label
carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not
understand.
Take your oral contraceptive
exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it, take it more often, or
take it for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor. Another combination
of pill decreases the frequency of menstruation if taken for 12 weeks and
inactive pills for a week. It decreases the regularity of periods to once in
every six months.
Mini Pill
There is another type pill known as the mini pill. It is a low dose of progesterone. Unlike other birth control pills, this has only one type of a hormone rather than a combination of two hormones. Due to this, it is less effective in preventing pregnancy as compared to combination pills.
It is taken every day at the same time to work effectively. Not only mini pill but all contraceptive pills work if they are taken every day without missing a single dose. Also, the time of taking the drug should also be the same.
