Inca Quarry to Machu Picchu 4 days Trip overview

Cusco - Perolniyoq Cascades - Soqma Village

Departure for your trip will be at your hotel at 4:00 am, and then we will descend to the Sacred Valley 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach the city of Soqma (3,205 m / 10,512 feet). It is the starting point of the walk of Cachicata, the riders will wait for us in this city, ready for this adventure trip; we will gently follow one of the side valleys, walking 1 hour and 30 minutes, we will stop in the Perolniyoc waterfall; which is one of the most beautiful falls in the north of the sacred valley. We will continue our hike for an hour more to climb to the archaeological site of Perolniyoc, located on the waterfall, after exploring the ruins with our guide, we will walk for an hour to reach our place of lunch and camp; spent the night at Rayan camp (3,700 meters).

Day 2

 Rayan - Door of the Sun- Choquetacarpo

Approximate walking time: 8 hrs

After breakfast, we will leave the camp, 3 hours of slow walking will take us to the passage called Puka kasa (4 450 m / 14 600 feet), for many people, it is the most difficult section because of the altitude, but it is the most spectacular day, we will see many mountains the snowfall and the sacred valley on the other side. Once we reach the mountain, there will be a magical feeling of surviving one of the highest stages of this mountain range.


We then walked downhill for 25 minutes to our lunch spot. In the afternoon we will hike for another two hours of undulating road with ascents and descents. The last 25 minutes of this segment take us to the highest level of the promenade, Kuychi K'asa (4,457 m / 14,619 feet). Then the hike takes 2 hours to the famous Inti Punku site, or Puerta del Sol, where we will have a spectacular view of the Veronica Mountain (5,682 m) and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will spend the night at Choquetacarpo, which is 30 minutes down from Inti Punku (3,600 m).

Day 3

 Ollantaytambo - Train in Aguas Calientes

Approximate walking time: 4 h

We will continue our Cachicata walk with an early breakfast and we will walk for an hour to reach Cachicata, the Inca Cantera (3,525 m), this is why it is called Cachicata trek; where we can walk and observe all the stone works made by the Inca builders before transporting to Ollantaytambo. Our guide will show us the remains of the unfinished stone work left by the Incas, by the invasion of the Spanish conquistadors.

From the Cachiqata quarry, we descend for 3 hours until we reach Ollantaytambo (2,840 m.) Place of our lunch. In the afternoon we will have a train connection with Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night at the hotel. In the evening, we dine in one of the restaurants in the city.


Day 4

 Tour to Machu Picchu - Back To Cusco

Approximate walking time: 4 h

You will have breakfast at home before taking a very early bus (5:30 am). The guide will teach you the whole history of this mysterious and mystical place. We will visit the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Palace, the main Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows and the Sundial. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore on your own.

In the afternoon, we will return to Aguas Calientes station to return to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival at the station, you will be transferred by car to Cusco
