IBPS Guide - All you need to know about getting a jon in Public sector banks

India is loosing growth momentum and unemployment rate is touching sky at 9%. At these times, hge job openings in public sector banks through IBPS is a boon for college passouts. Every year about 2 million candidates appear for IBPS exams for 70,000 jobs. IBPS conducts four exams in a year - Probationary officers, Clerks, Specialist officers and RRB. All job positions have good salary with perks and allowances. Working hours in public sector banks are quite comfortable. Eight hours working day including an hour of lunch break.

Recruitment Process

Recruitment process consists of two stages. That are written exam and second is personal interview. Written exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions. Time allowed is 150 minutes. Candidate also need to appear for descriptive paper which is allotted separate one hour. Written examination is followed by personal interview. Both these events are elimination stages. 80% weightage is given to written exam and 20% weightage is given to interview. Although written exam is given big weightage but written exam is given 250 marks and each weighted mark in personal interview is equal to 2.5 marks in written exam.

Preparation

IBPS exam consists of five sections - Quantitative, English, Reasoning, Banking awareness and General awareness. There is sectional cutoff in the exam which meams candidate need to clear cutoff of all sections as well as aggregate cutoff to qualify for interview stage. You need to prepare for at least 2 months to prepare for IBPS. Various books for IBPS exam are available in the market, you should read at least one book for each subject. Kiran publishers and Sultan chand publishers publish some good books. Some all in one books are also available in the market that are of low quality. Candidates should concentrate on building strong hold on fundamentals. Strong hold on fundamentals helps in increasing speed as well as accuracy. Besides from books you can download various kind of study material from internet. Try to solve at least 50 previous question papers. Practising previous papers helps in building speed as well as confidence. There is no need to pay for question papers, these are available online for free.

 

Application and eligibility criteria

Candidates can apply through official website of IBPS. Minimum age for application is 20 and maximum age is 30, whereas some relaxation for reserved category students is available. Graduation from university recognised by central government is required. There are unlimited chances available for candidates to apply for IBPS exams.

Results

Computerisation has made things simple. Now it is very easy to apply for exams and check result status through internet via official website of IBPS. IBPS declares the results within 2 months from the date of examination. First they show the result status and after 2 Weeks final score is shown. After this stage candidate is called for interview. Within one month final weighted score is declared on the basis of which candidates are asked to select their preference of banks. Within 1 month various banks start sending call letters to candidates.
