HVAC Technician Salary, Job Description & Requirements

To be an HVAC technician, you must have a high school diploma or GED. You should also have previous work experience as an electrician or plumber. An HVAC technician installs heating and cooling systems in buildings. They install ductwork, air conditioning units, heat exchangers, fans, and other equipment.

You will need to pass a drug test before being hired by any company.
If you are looking for a job as an HVAC technician then you will need to pass a background check. This includes checking criminal records, credit reports, and employment history. You will also need to take a drug test.

Technician Salary
An HVAC technician's salary varies based on where you live. In some states, such as California, New York, and Texas, technicians make $20-$30 per hour. However, in other states, such as Florida, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, technicians earn less than $12 per hour.

How many days a week do they work?
Most HVAC technicians work full time. They typically work 40 hours per week, although some companies require them to work overtime. Technicians usually work Monday through Friday, although there are exceptions.

You will need at least two years of experience working with heating and cooling systems.
An HVAC technician needs to be able to read blueprints and understand how to install and repair air conditioning units. He or she must also be able to troubleshoot issues and fix any problems that arise during installation or maintenance.
