by Subhan Akhtar seo expert

The dedication of your book is not a trivial matter. Normally, after putting on paper all those words that had been floating around in your head for so long, there is usually a lot to be grateful for. As an author, you can enchant, excite, make all your readers laugh or fall in love with your originality and creativity, at the same time promising many pages of enjoyment.

That said, we can come across funny, mischievous, sarcastic dedications and there are even some in which we can see a bit of flirting. Of course, there are also more formal greetings and thanks.

Writing the dedication of your book is an art in itself, and how many of us like to open a book and come across all those emotions that the author has exposed in a few lines. Now, as we know how difficult it can sometimes be to capture all those feelings, at MI bestseller we have decided to write an article giving some advice so that you can write a dedication as perfect as your book.

Steps to write the dedication of your book

To begin with, we want you to know that there are as many ways to dedicate a book as there are ways to write them, and as a good author you will also know that there is no single way to do either of them. Keep in mind that the dedication of your book should be short and to the point, unlike the acknowledgments section that is usually found at the end of the book. Whatever your intention and your recipient, consider the following aspects:

1. Choose who or what you want to dedicate it to

It is common for the dedication of your book writing services to be addressed to people, especially those who have helped you throughout the process, either with their emotional support or with their more technical support. You can start with your friends, family or even your pet. If you want to get a little more emotional, you can also dedicate it to a famous person whom you admire and who has inspired you.

Now, as you already know if you are an avid reader, the dedication of your book does not have to be addressed only to people, but you can also address inanimate objects, something abstract, nothing, or both. time:

Jorge Wagensberg, «Ideas about the complexity of the world»

«Dedicated to the constantly new, to the methodical doubt, to the defiant timidity, to the always wrong now despite the later, to the complexity, in short, dedicated to Alicia. »

Remember that there is no wrong decision and that this is a very personal matter.

2. Choose the reason for the dedication

Once you have decided who or what the dedication is going to be for, it is time to decide why. Why does that special person or thing deserve to be on one of the first pages of your book? Did he encourage you on the days when you just felt like procrastinating? Maybe they brought you a little coffee to the table when you needed it most? Did they lend you money you didn't have? Did they serve as inspiration for you? Try to write down all these causes and choose those that inspire you the most. You can even tell a short story or anecdote. Be creative when expressing those feelings of gratitude!

3. Choose the format

When you have decided for whom and why you want to dedicate your dedication, it is time for you to choose what form you want to give it. This will depend mainly on what your personality is like. If you are a funny person, you will most likely make a joke or be sarcastic in your dedication, while if you are more of an emotional person, a deep dedication with a lot of feeling will probably be the most coherent option.

We have two examples that may illustrate you:

George RR Martin « A Song of Ice and Fire: A Storm of Swords »

"For Phyllis, who made me get the dragons."

We don't know who Phyllis will be, but she certainly did a great job.

Manuel Marist any, " Brunet’s Nurse"

"To an old love who died without giving me time to ask for forgiveness."

This dedication is full of feeling and could even make us cry.

Other aspects to take into account

Although dedications can, of course, show gratitude for emotional or monetary support, they can also make statements. For example, in Toni Morrison's book "Beloved," the dedication addresses "Sixty Million and More," referring, of course, to the number of slaves who died as part of the slave trade.

Some authors use the dedication to show their point of view of society or to shock their readers with a quote that corresponds to the philosophy or point of view that the book tries to reflect. If you have a favorite quote or Non Fiction Ghostwriter, you can also use it as a dedication.

When considering what you want your dedication to be like, you'll need to take into account your personality and what the book means to you. This final touch will represent who you are as an author and what you want the world (and your readers) to know about you before they start reading.

Some creative examples

We have compiled some of the most curious dedications we have found:

E.E Cummings – «No thanks»

EE Cummings had a collection of 70 poems that he self-published with the help of his mother under the name 'No Thanks' after being rejected by several publishers. The dedication of her book is directed to these 14 publishers, whose names form a funeral urn.

JK Rowling – “Harry Potter, The Deathly Hallows”

"The Deathly Hallows" was dedicated by JK Rowling to her husband Neil Murray, her children, her mother, her sister and all the readers who remained faithful to the saga until the end.

It is a verse in the shape of a lightning bolt, illustrating the famous Harry Potter scar that everyone recognizes:

Charles Bukowski – “Postman”

"This is presented as a fiction book and is not dedicated to anyone."

Stephen King – “Wolves of the Calla”

"This book is for Frank Muller who hears the voices in my head."

Cuca Canals – « Cry, Joy»

»Can a book be dedicated to a drop of salt water? »
