How to Upgrade a Dell laptop CPU

Just like every laptop, your Dell Inspiron 1525 battery comes with a built in Central Processing Unit (CPU). Your laptop processor’s speed determines how fast your computer’s software runs. Processor upgrades are common among laptop users because it is the one piece of hardware that has the biggest effect on your computer’s performance. 1>Shut off your laptop through its current operating system. Pull down the display panel until it snaps shut. Disconnect the power cable and all peripheral devices from the laptop. Place the laptop face down, and then remove the battery pack from its compartment in the bottom left corner of the laptop.Dell Inspiron Mini 9 battery

2>Find the hard drive compartment on the bottom casing assembly. It is located in any of the bottom casing’s four corners, depending on your specific laptop model. Remove its two retaining Phillips-head screws. Remove the hard drive from the laptop. Dell Inspiron 1525 AC Adapter

3>Locate the plastic, memory compartment cover near the center of the bottom casing. Remove its retaining screws, and then lift the cover out of the laptop. Locate the CD/DVD drive in the upper left, or right corner of the laptop’s bottom casing. Remove the drive’s retaining Phillips-head screw from inside the memory compartment. Pull the drive out of its compartment.
4>Place the laptop face up, and then pull open the display panel. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the hinge cover situated between the keyboard and LCD screen. Remove the Phillips-head screws from behind the keyboard’s top row of keys. Grasp the keyboard and place it face down over the palm rest. Disconnect the keyboard’s ribbon cable from the motherboard. 5>Disconnect the display screen’s cable from the motherboard. The cable will be coming out of the right or left side of the screen, depending on your laptop model. Determine if your laptop has an EMI shield installed. The EMI shield is a thin sheet of metal covering the motherboard. If so, remove its retaining Phillips-head screw and remove the shield from the Dell Inspiron 1526 AC Adapter.
6>Locate the cooling fan attached to the right side of the motherboard. Remove its retaining screws, and then disconnect the fan’s power cable from the motherboard. Remove the cooling fan from the CPU.
7>Turn the processor’s flat-head locking screw in the counterclockwise direction until the CPU is disengaged from its socket. Remove the processor from the Dell Inspiron 1525 Keyboard
