Do not expect to find the boxes with full of birds from the first day. Birds are cautious and need to feel safe first.

1. Mourning doves 

These are medium sized birds. They are typically gray with black tips on their wings. They feed on seeds, and most of them are used to platform feeders. This is something you can offer wild birds to make them visit your garden more often. They will remember where the food is and they may even bring some friends. 

2. Woodpeckers 

If your garden or backyard is full of mature trees, you will see some woodpeckers. They can also be tented to nest in your backyard, attracted by brush and scrub landscaping. 

3. American Robin 

Robins are easily attracted to a garden where they can find insects and berries. Water is also a great incentive for this kind of bird. They enjoy a good bath in fountains, to refresh and also to drink.

4. Crows 

These elegant blackbirds are very intelligent. They adapt very well to plenty of environments and are very entertaining to watch. Due to their intelligence, feeders are usually attacked in unusual ways. 

5. European Starling 

These voracious birds usually travel in groups. They have a short tail and seem to have dots with black, yellow and green all over their plumage. 

6. House Sparrow 

This is a very popular backyard visitor. It will eat mostly seeds. However, they also choose insects and fruits when seeds are not found. They love to take a bath in water or dry baths with dust. 

7. House Finch 

This distinctive bird can be recognized by their red eyebrow, forehead, and throat. Some male birds have also shown yellow and orange plumage. The set their nest on or in buildings, trees, rock ledges, and cactus. 

Once birds have created a nest and had their eggs there, the best thing is not to touch them. Birds can reject the eggs that have been touched by people. Once the eggs hatch, the parents will take care of the hatchling. Try not to disturb them, and if the parents feel in danger, they may leave the nest and abandon their offspring. 

Birds will change according to each season, and thus you will have different visitors in your garden. Make sure to have your camera or glasses ready to watch the show and enjoy these little companions. If you want to offer them fruit, seeds, insects or worms, it is up to you.
