How to Remove Paint from Floor and Wall Tiles

by Lisa C. Marketing Writer

Walls and floors next to doors and windows often catch paint stains. If they are not removed immediately after splashing, they become permanent stains which seem difficult to remove.

If there are paint blots and spills on your tiled wall or floor, this article gives you some of the tried-and-true tips to get them off. Check out the following pointers –

Method 1:

  • Take clear thinner or paint remover in a spray bottle.
  • Spray the solution over the stained areas on your floor/wall.
  • Let it be there for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Spray the solution over the stains again.
  • Wait for another 15 minutes.
  • Now, rub the stains with an old denim trouser or shirt (the one that you do not use anymore).
  • This will remove the stains from the tile surface.

Method 2:

This approach will be useful if there is a thick layer of paint on the tile surface.

  • Spray the aforementioned solution over the stains.
  • Allow the solution to sit there for about half and hour. Spray the solutions twice during this period. This will loosen the grip of the paint.
  • You will now need an old credit card that is not in use anymore.
  • Scrape the paint off the tile applying gentle hand pressure.
  • You could use a blunt knife as well. But use it gently.

Once most of the stain is gone, you can wipe the remanent with an old denim shirt or trousers.

The best practice is to avoid paint stains is to not let them happen or to wipe them immediately as they happen. If you have a large area to paint, you can consider using masking tape or card board to prevent spills and stains.
