by Jimmy B. Consultant

Removing stains from carpets can be very tough and annoying task but this is not a reason to left your carpets neglected. Remove spills and stains as soon as they appear to preserve the good look not only of your carpet but that of the room as well. It is very likely to deal with carpet stains more frequently than average if you area a parent or pet owner. However, most stains can be removed with a simple home remedy so try the methods below before calling professional carpet cleaners. The key to remove carpet stains effectively is to tackle them immediately when they happen. However, you may not notice the stain right away and a few hours or days may left before you find it out. Once you see a stain, start cleaning it up because the longer it sits the tougher it will be to get rid of it.

  1. If the stains are water based, such as milk, pet urine, juice or paint, use a mixture of 30 ounces of water and ¼ teaspoons of white vinegar to remove it. Use a spray bottle to apply the solution to the stain area. Store the remaining solution in the bottle along with your cleaning supplies.
  2. Stains such as wine, blood, mustard and vomit are known as non-soluable. To remove such stains, use a solution of 1 tablespoon of mild detergent and 30 ounces of water. Pour the solution into a spray bottle and apply it to the problematic area. Blot up the excess moisture with dry white towels.

Sometimes, it is hard to find the soiled spot where the pet has done its job. Turn on a UV light and the stain will glow at that very moment. Also, this way you will know when the urine stain is completely removed when it no longer “sparkles”. Dried stains are a bit more difficult to remove than fresh ones. Pour your cleaning solution directly over the affected area to saturate the stain. Leave the solution to sit on the carpet for several minutes before blotting it up, as advices by cleaners Fulham. You may need to repeat the process more than once before the stain is completely removed. Some stubborn stains may require a steam cleaner to get rid of them. You can rent a carpet cleaning machine from almost any hardware or grocery store. If the stain remains, use a commercial cleaner designed to remove the type of the stain you have on your carpet. Follow the instructions on the product's label. If the stain is still visible, consider hiring carpet cleaning Fulham  to clean your carpet effectively so no stain to be left on it.
