How to Organize Your Garden
by Pol Bishop Cleaning Tips and InformationLet me periphrase the famous quote “Behind every successful man there is a woman”. So, here is what I can say to all beginning gardeners - “Behind every successful garden there is good planning”. As you probably know the arranging of a yard is not a simple act. There are numerous things to consider when you do the planning. Shape and size, trees, garden fountain, hardscape and softscape obstacles and, of course, the flowers. All of these components should fit to your taste, but also according some simple aesthetic rules. A good plan and clear idea for your garden can save you a lot of trouble later. As transplanting is stressful for the flowers and time-consuming for the gardener, make sure to avoid it.
Following some simple points will not only ensure a great garden look, but also healthy and easy-to-maintain plants. So, what are the things, which need your full attention?
- First
and very important step is to draw a map of your garden. Do it on a
graph paper and label all the areas of low and high ground. Mark the
sites with low and high sunlight as well.
- Make a
full list of all the plants, which you want to grow in your garden.
Herbs, bushes, vegetables or flowers – include all of them in the
list. Then decide how you want to place them – divided in many mini
gardens or organized in a complex site. Use the map to draw any
points of interest.
- Now an
extremely important step is to choose the right ground for all the
different plants. Make sure all your choices are based on plants
growing in sun and water conditions. Then carefully decide where to
put the different types of flora. Shade-loving plants should be
placed in darker areas, as all the sun-loving ones sited in the most
brighter spots of the garden. Remember, all the taller plants should
be stationed in the north of the shorter ones. This way you will keep
the small flora free to grow without shadows.
- Another
thing to consider is the soil. According
to the expert gardeners in Staines, aggressive plants such as running
bamboo, should be placed in planters or surrounded with root
barriers. In general, make sure to site all the plants, which need
different soil conditions from the ones you have, in a same area. All
the others should be placed in their ideal type of soil.
