How to Get Your Kids Good Sleep during the COVID-19 Pandemic

by Rojie T. Shopping & Reviews

Moms are dealing with an abundance of issues during COVID-19 Pandemic. Out of all these troubles, poor sleep cycle of their kids tops the list and rightly so. A child with a disturbed sleep pattern eventually affects your well-being too.

This piece of writing should be a relief for you if you are a mom and in the same boat. We have figured out some effective tips to get your child to sleep successfully.

Let’s get started.

Set Fixed Bed and Wake-up Times

Having fixed timings of going to bed and waking up makes everything so much easier. Especially if you have school going kids. Make sure your kids go to bed on time and rise early. Developing fixed timings might be nerve-wracking in the beginning, but once its done, your life will return to normalcy.

It is easier to make children fall asleep early if you don’t let them nap during odd hours. To avoid naps, try keeping children busy and entertained during the day.

Limit Screen Time

Right now, excess screen time is among the biggest culprits of abnormal sleep cycles in adults and children. Experts believe that screen time must be shortened to live a healthy lifestyle. According to them, getting kids off devices is necessary. It disrupts the function of melatonin in your body which is one of the most important factors behind the quality of the sleep-wake cycle.

An ideal way to tackle the situation would be to have a dedicated slot for mobile phone or TV usage (not close to bedtime, of course!)

Work on the Environment

The room and its environment your kids sleep in are equally important to induce sleep. The noisy, cluttered, and unclean environment is less likely to make you and the kids sleep peacefully. Above all, make sure the bed is well-made and the mattress is comfortable.

If you think it’s the mattress that is causing all the issues in your child’s sleep schedule, then you must have a great quality mattress delivered to your doorstep without delaying any further.

Moreover, if your child wants to sleep with their favourite teddy, then don’t stop them from doing so.

Check Temperatures

Setting the temperatures too high will disturb the Melatonin activity. It is very important that the temperature is towards the cooler side especially during summers. Also, avoid covering your child with multiple layers because that makes the body temperature warm and also gives a suffocating feeling throughout the night.

In this regard, listen to your child and know what kind of clothes they are comfortable while sleeping.

Sense of Protection

Before sending your kids off to sleep, remind them that everything is safe and give them reassurance of all kinds. It is important to know that kids have a little heart and they sense fear in quite an unhealthy way that leaves them scared for days.

You can pretend to spray or recite something and tell them the monsters are gone forever! (It will only work if your child is young enough to believe in monsters)

Moreover, do tell them that you will be sleeping in the room next to theirs and guarding them throughout the night.
