How to get a good night's sleep and keep it that way

by Marry Aaron Medical Assistant

If you have good cleanliness, you do everything that will help you live a healthy, healing life. Taking care of your sleep health is like taking care of your teeth. You stay healthy by taking care of your teeth and gums, which shows in strong, clean teeth and gums. On the other hand, good sleep habits keeps you healthy. This means that your mind and body are strong and well-rested.

In fact, having clean teeth is an important part of getting a good night's sleep. If you do healthy bedtime routines every night before getting into bed, it will be easier to fall asleep. Bedtime routines are the things you do every night to take care of yourself before going to bed.

One of these evening grooming habits is brushing and/or flossing your teeth. Keeping your dentures clean not only keeps your breath fresh, but it also helps you sleep better because it makes you feel clean and comfy.

Here are some more tips to help you get a better night's sleep:

- When you do go to bed, make sure you are already tired and ready to sleep. What should you do if it's time for bed but you're still not tired? If this is the case, you should do something else instead of lying in bed and tossing and turning until you fall asleep.

You can look through some magazines or read a really boring book while listening to slow, soft music. Do something to slow down and rest your mind and body so that you can fall asleep. Don't do anything that will wake you up. Instead, do things that will get you ready to sleep by taking your mind off the fact that you can't sleep well or readily.

- It's good advice to get out of bed when you're awake. Do something that will help your mind and body rest as much as possible, but not in your room. Don't go back to your room and bed until you're truly tired. This would also train your mind to think that your bedroom is only a place to sleep.

- Besides brushing your teeth, you can do things like take a warm bath, eat a light snack, or spend a few minutes reading a good book before bed.

- Make sure you sleep and wake up at the same time every day. To get your sleeping cycle back on track, you need to stick to your set time for going to bed and getting up. Keep in mind that one way to get enough and restful sleep is to be able to go through several sleep cycles during the night.

- Don't nap for too long, and don't nap after 3:00 in the afternoon. This would make it harder for you to fall asleep in the evening.

- Don't drink coffee or wine after lunch, during the afternoon, and especially in the last few minutes before bed.

- Don't do any hard workouts for at least 6 hours before you go to bed.

Remember that if you really want to improve your sleep hygiene, you need to be self-disciplined enough to know what you should avoid and what you should do every night.
