How to Destroy Stains

by Lisa Header Writer

A tiny little, but noticeable stain can cause us to throw away our favourite clothes. Moreover, our children's clothes are attracting all kinds of exotic stains. Some of them can be removed easily with all-purpose cleaners, but others are so stubborn that we have to throw the clothes away. However, does these stains are really irremovable or we just do not know the right way to get rid of them?

As a matter of fact, some stains can be really stubborn causing us a big headache. However, it's worth it to try removing them in any possible way before throwing away the stained item. So, I've gathered some traditional and not so traditional methods of stain removal here that might be helpful with your fight with stains.

  • Rust stains. These kind of stains are know as resistible to bleach and hydrogen peroxide. But do you know that they can be removed with lemons? Damp a cloth with lemon juice and rub to the stain. Then leave to dry. Repeat the procedure if necessary until the stain is gone.
  • Street mud. These stains are popular with the fact that they should be left to dry before trying to be cleaned. All you have to do is to brush them with a hard brush.
  • Greasy stains. It is better to apply some spirit to the fresh greasy stain instead of sprinkling salt. If the stains are older try a solution of clay. Apply the solution and leave for several hours. It will soak the grease and all you have to do next is to brush it.
  • Grass stains. Remove them with a solution of ¾ part spirit and ¼ part ammonia.
  • Blood stains. Do not soak these stains in warm water. Soak them in cool soapy water. If the stain is older apply some hydrogen peroxide.
  • Red wine stains. Pour some soda water onto the stain and blot with a clean cloth right away. Repeat until the stain is completely gone.
  • Perfume stains. Most of the perfumes leave stains on our clothes that are very difficult to be cleaned. Apply some spirit and the problem is solved.
  • Paint stains. These can be removed with turpentine. It will leave a stain which you can remove with spirit.
  • Gum stains. Rub some ice on the stain until the gum gets hard. Scrape it with a knife and launder the fabric.

When you've got a stain on your favourite blouse consider trying these methods before throwing it away. You will be impressed how effective they are. Of course, there's a chance of those methods not to work. In such case you have one more option - relying on professional cleaners from Hampstead. They are experienced in such kind of jobs and might know how to deal with stubborn stains.
