How to deactivate McAfee license to install it on another computer?

by Mike Metsan Web Approach

McAfee, the American global computer security software company needs no introduction as its range of antivirus and security software has gained worldwide popularity. McAfee has helped millions of consumers as well as businesses to forget the worries of protecting their Windows, iOS, Android or Mac devices from all sorts of existing as well as upcoming viruses from the digital world. These viruses can not only corrupt the data or the software but also steal your personal information, including the financial details. This may further lead to loss of your hard-earned money.

Deactivate McAfee License

Being an industry leader, McAfee has special features to track every activity of yours so that it can prevent you clicking over the infected links and downloading malicious files. It immediately blocks all such websites that it founds malicious or infected. It also alerts the user as soon as it found an error on your device.

McAfee antivirus keeps on running in the background without letting asking you to initiate the scanning process manually. McAfee antivirus software is available in a variety of versions, each with different features. This helps the users choosing the one according to their specific requirements. Once purchased, the antivirus needs to be downloaded, installed and then activated using the 25-character alphanumeric key code. You can check all the details about your McAfee subscription by visiting My Account in your McAfee product.

The subscription needs to be renewed only when it gets expired. However, there may be a situation when you purchase a new device and add it under the protection of your multiple user McAfee security software. For this, you can simply install your McAfee product on the newly purchased device and then activate it using the same product key. But if your McAfee software is already exceeding the number of computers it can be installed on then you have to choose any of the following:

  1. Purchase additional license
  2. Deactivate the license on an existing computer

For purchasing additional license, you can visit McAfee website. However, if you have a PC (no longer in use due to any hard drive replacement or hardware failure or some other reason) on which you have installed the McAfee subscription then the best thing would be deactivating the McAfee from that device and then installing it to the new one. To deactivate the McAfee license from one product and releasing it to some other computer system, do the following:

  1. Open My Account
  2. Open a web browser and visit http://home.mcafee.com.
  3. Enter your McAfee user account and password to login
  4. You can choose Remember Me if you want the web browser to remember your login credentials
  5. Now, choose the device deactivate the license from
  6. Click Deactivate

To release it to the other device, simply follow the normal installation and activation steps. If you need any help, contact McAfee customer support.

Still if you want to know in details than follow mcafee.com/activate.
