How to Create a Gmail Account

Gmail is increasingly popular nowadays. With the decline if other companies, such as AOL, Yahoo! And Hotmail, more and more people are moving to Google’s services. Creating a Gmail account is an easy thing to do. If you create one, you will be able to access Google’s products, such as Google Plus, Google Drive, and YouTube. And if you don’t know to create a Gmail account, no need to worry. We will tell you how to create a Gmail account. Are you ready? Let’s start.

Step #1: Open Gmail website

Using your internet browser, go to www.gmail.com. Another way to do it is through Google homepage. Open www.google.com and click the Gmail at the upper right side. When you arrive at the Gmail website, click the ‘Create an account’ button.

Step #2: Create your username and password

You will need to come up with a username.  Your username will be your Gmail account address. Create a unique username. When you enter your username, Google will check whether it is already used by someone else or not. If it is, you will have to enter another username. You will be given several related alternatives. Likewise, if it is not, you can use it as your username. So, having a backup or two will be nice.

Other than the username, you will also need to come up with a password. The password is at least 8 characters long. When you create your password, keep in mind that you will need to enter it each time you log-in. So, memorize it. And here is a tip: use a combination of letters and numbers in your password. This way, your account will be more secure as your password is more difficult to guess.

Step #3: Fill out the rest

You will need to fill the information that is required. This includes your first and last name, your birthday (this is to verify your age), your gender, your country you reside, your phone number and an email address. The email address is recommended but not required.

Step #4: CAPTCHA

As you fill your information, don’t forget to also complete the CAPTCHA. It is a verification method that the one creating the account is a real person. If you can’t read the current CAPTCHA, hit refresh.

Step #5: Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

You will have to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If you want to read it, just click on the letters.

Step #6: Click Next Step

After you click ‘Next Step’, Google will ask you for the verification code. The verification code is sent to the phone number you previously write. It can take a while before you receive it. After you receive your verification code, enter it.

Step #7: Done

Your Gmail account is set up. Next, you will be directed to your inbox. You can start using your email now.
