How to Choose Eyelash Extension Style to Suit Your Eye Shape

With the rising popularity of eyelash extensions, there are now more options than ever when it comes to choosing a style. But with so many lengths, curls, and effects to pick from, how do you know which will be the most flattering for your eyes? The shape of your eyes is the most important factor when selecting eyelash extensions. Read on to learn how to determine your eye shape and choose extensions to enhance your natural beauty.

The first step is figuring out if you have round, almond, hooded, or deep-set eyes. 

Round eyes are characterized by a circular iris with little distinction between the eyelid and brow bone. Extensions that add length to the outer corners help make round eyes appear wider and more oval.

Almond eyes have a distinct almond shape with a defined crease. This versatile eye shape can pull off any style, but middle lengths which graduate longer at the edges complement almonds beautifully.

Subtle enhancements like ombré and two-toned extensions can also be used strategically. Fade darker lashes at the base to lighter ends for larger looking round eyes. Use two-toned lashes sparingly through the midsection of almond eyes to add interest. Place ombré lashes at the outer edges of hooded eyes to keep things soft and open. And just a touch of enhancements toward the middle of deep-set eyes makes them recede less.  

Once you’ve chosen the optimal set, be sure to care for your new extensions properly so they last. Avoid oil-based makeup and cleansers which can break down the eyelash extension glue. Use performance glues like sky glue for better retention and longer results. Use an oil-free eyelash cleanser daily to remove any mascara or debris without disturbing your extensions. Comb them gently each morning and evening to keep them neat and separated. And don’t pick, pull, or over-brush the extensions or they’ll shed prematurely. With the right care, your eyelash extensions will last through the entire growth cycle for a flawless look day after day!
