How to arrange the house after getting back from the vacation

by Paul Toomey Marketing Manager

Though the New Year vacation has now receded into the past, holidays keep appearing on smaller or larger scales. Each weekend serves the purpose of a mini vacation, if suitably arranged, to nearby hotspots! The euphoric holiday experience inevitably gives rise to concerns about cleaning up and returning to the regular work or study routines.

Junk accumulates very soon. Throwing it all away may solve the problem and you do feel cleansed in body and soul. Perhaps too much gets thrown away. On the other hand, putting things out of sight may bring relief. Getting well organized is a mammoth challenge.

Take good care of decorative materials

Also recently did the Christmas season come and go. While we enjoy setting up the Christmas tree, dismantling it sure makes me sad. I make things easier by packing and storing all those items used to decorate. When another Christmas or similar occasion comes around, you can be sure that it is something to be thankful for.

Use a piece of cardboard, paper towel tubes or even coffee cans to wind and store the wires used for the Christmas lights. Use a range of storage strategies. Delicate materials will need to be carefully packaged several times. Small objects may be put in egg cartons. Odd shapes need special attention. Transparent containers would make it easy to locate them again.

Trash needs to be discarded

Those materials have memories attached like the heirlooms and the craft the children made. They will be valued eternally. Maybe a Santa bought ten years ago still lurks with frayed clothes and a broken hat? Get rid of such things that clutter. Donate them if in acceptable condition. They must go.

What happens to the unwelcome gifts?

Among those pretty little presents would be some that serve no purpose. Would you put it away to use the next time you meet that person? It does bring guilty feelings. Regift such items and put them carefully away. Maintain notes to avoid forgetting who gave what. You might end up regifting to the original giver!

Minimizing clutter can be very encouraging. Usually, each gift that enters the house to be kept will result in two things moving out. We are excluding the regift items. Remember that simple formula to maintain a spick and span environment. Remember at gift times like birthdays too. Get the whole family working and the children will get used to the idea of donations, charity and sharing.
