How Much Time Is Required for Grouting Kitchen Backsplash?
by Lisa C. Marketing WriterPut simply,
it depends mainly on the area of your backsplash. But at a number of times, the
time required for grouting your tile backsplash relies on your expertise or
experience.
Grouting helps
hold the tiles securely on the backsplash and prevent them from falling. It is
the final stage of backsplash tiling.
Stages
of Tiling/Grouting
But, to understand
how much time grouting a backsplash will take in your specific project, we will
need to give the stages of finishing your tile project.
The first
stage is readying the substrate (drywall or backerboard), on which the tiles
will be applied. The substrate should be strong, dry, and perfectly flat. There
should be no paint, wallpaper, or dirt or debris on it. If you are preparing a
new substrate, it is advisable to allow the substrate to dry completely.
The second
stage is tiling. Once the base is ready, you will tile the backsplash. Follow the
tiling pattern as per your design idea.
The third
stage is grouting. Wait for a couple of hours after tiling before heading for
this stage. Take the grout paste into a bucket and fill the paste into the empty
joints between tiles. Fill the gap properly. Remove excess grout with a soft
brush or cloth piece. Now wipe grout haze from tiles.
Now you are
done with grouting. Wait for the grout to dry completely before using your
kitchen backsplash.
Time
Required for Grouting
So, time
required for grouting will bank on whether the substrate preparation and tiling
are done. If you have to tile a backsplash that has already been tiled, then
the time required for grouting will be fairly shorter.
But if you
have to start the project with substrate preparation, it will require 3 to 4
days to finish.
