How is San Francisco for living?

by Bharat R. Digital Marketer
Are you planning on moving to San Francisco? Well, then there are a few things you must know. As with any big city, living in the bay area has its pros and cons. It is one of the most expensive cities to live in the USA, but its sheer beauty and warmth among people make San Francisco for living worthwhile.

The pros of living in San Francisco

1.    Opportunities galore

The Bay area is undoubtedly the tech hub. So, if you or your partner work in tech, then San Francisco is the place to be. Out here, you will find plenty of startups among industry giants such as Facebook, Google, Apple, and Twitter. The innovative city is famed for attracting world-class talent, capital, and business. So, there are innumerable opportunities for everyone.

The city leads the United States in wage growth. It has added over 66,000 jobs to the tech sector since the dot-com boom at the start of the 21st century.

2.   Super dog-friendly city

Do you love pooches? If yes, then San Francisco is the most dog-friendly city you will ever come across. Whether you own a pet dog or not, you will find dogs everywhere doing their regular shenanigans. There are so many dog parks and dog hotels that it will leave you wondering whether you are in a place meant for humans or fur balls. So, San Francisco is a paradise for all canine lovers.

3.   Diversity and progressive values

San Francisco has the most ethnically diverse populations compared to other cities in the United States. It is a minority-majority city that has Hispanic Chinese-Americans. Hispanics have a deeply embedded history in the town, with Chinatown being one of the oldest and largest in North America.

The LGBTQ+ community is loud and proud in San Francisco. You will feel at home, especially if you are a member of the community and live in neighborhoods like Castro. It is one of the most popular gay areas in the world. Also, the San Francisco Pride is one of the oldest and largest pride parades. It is also the originator of the rainbow flag and is visited by a million tourists and locals every June.

The city has one of the most evolved cultures in the United States. It was the birthplace of the mid-sixties “hippie” counterculture at the intersection of Haight and Ashbury street. The city holds progressive values that permit same-sex marriage, pro-choice policies, high minimum wages, and marijuana decriminalization.

The cons of living in San Francisco

One of the most apparent issues with living in San Francisco is the exorbitant housing costs. The bay area is quite highly priced when it comes to buying a house. Also, San Francisco for living isn’t ideal for kids. Since most adults drawn by the tech boom are between the age of 20 and 39, most of them aren’t raising families.

Just like any city, San Francisco has many great things to offer and a few drawbacks. However, the city is still one of the most beautiful places to live in.
