They share experiences with experts who can help in recovery. The solution is not physical dependence or social media. Consulting a competent therapist works better.

Friendship and Therapy

There is nothing wrong to maintain and continue relationships with peers. Yet, create a line between the therapist and friends. The therapist is not a friend. In the same way, a colleague cannot be a therapist. Patients cannot ask the practitioner to watch movies with them.  The therapist cannot borrow money from clients. It is a professional relationship.

Friendship does not require a plan, purpose, or objective. Hanging out without any serious purpose takes place with chums. A person does not unwind or go out drinking with service providers. Therapy has a profound function or rationale. It has negotiated goals but not actually an end. That is what therapy is all about.
