How Important is a Superstar in the NBA

by Kim Morrie Professional Sports Bettor

With nothing going on in the online betting boxing for many Australian bookmakers online, there’s more time to take a look at the NBA, and details floating about.

NBA, as they all, is a league of superstars. It is, after all, the stage where the best athletes of the sport play against each other. Among these top athletes are even better athletes that deserve to be called as superstars. Now the talk of the value of superstars had been on the rise lately due to the statement made by Andre Miller about an NBA team needing a superstar player in order to win titles. In a way, Miller was questioning the chances of his team, the Denver Nuggets. After all, the Denver Nuggets is one of the teams right now that don’t have a superstar on their roster.

However, if you look at the success of the Nuggets, you have to wonder if superstars are indeed necessary for a team to win games. They don’t even have one all-star player for this season on their team but they are currently sitting on the fifth spot of the western conference.

They did this by playing a balanced basketball that relied on a system, rather than putting the weight of games on the shoulder of one individual. The question now is that if they can win with their current style, why won’t they win in the playoffs, or maybe the finals?

Well, here’s my take on it. A superstar is someone who has the ability to take a team over the top when a situation requires it. It is someone who can take the responsibility of winning or losing. Obviously, I don’t like a team who relies on a superstar pulling the entire sled of the team. However, there are plenty of situations in NBA games where one who can lift the entire team is needed. Of course, to be able to do this, great skill is required from a player. Obviously, finding that right one is quite difficult and nobody on the Denver Nuggets team don’t have the current skill set.

Although Danillo Gallinari makes a case for being a good shooter, he is still reliant on luck. A good comparison is Dirk Nowitzki , where in the 2011 finals, he showed plenty of times that he knows what to do with the ball once he receives it. He didn’t rely on a prayer, but on his skills. Well, it is impossible to find another Nowitzki right. And the ultimate judgment for the importance of a superstar is during the playoffs, when Nuggets face star-studded teams.
