How Does A Rojgar Mela Help?

by Vikas Sudan Digital Markting

A large number of individuals attend these events called Rojgar Mela, for the purpose of applying for jobs. These events are held by employers. Employers at these events are very focused on finding the right candidates for each job profile. This strategy used for employment is meant to fast track the whole process of job finding by making the interaction between employer and employee much easier. The entire process of seeking employment can be troublesome for both the employer and the employee. Rojgar Melas eases the confusion between employers and employees.

The initiative was started by the AISECT-NSDC partnership under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) with the aim to provide employment opportunities to underprivileged sections of the country.

A Rojgar Mela is held in a large assembly hall with separate booths for each employer. The booths are equipped with a table on which brochures are laid out to make the process easier for the employees. These brochures have all the necessary details about the companies and the kinds of jobs the candidates can apply for.  These booths are manned by company representatives.

These Rojgar Melas can be of various scales, ranging from 5-100 employers being present at one. Even the smallest Rojgar Mela usually has lines of job seekers waiting for their turn to be interviewed.

It caters to the requirements of many different sectors of private enterprises that have the aim to involve the rural and semi-urban people in the workforce. India has a very large number of employable people who may not get the opportunity to get employed due to a lack of resources or skills that they have. The PMKVY scheme provides training to the employable workforce and improves their skills in order to transform that skill into something that can get them employed. This way, the motivated young people can not only earn a livelihood but also contribute to the economy of the country.

AISECT holds their Rojgar Melas without charging any fee to employers or job seekers. This encourages more people to be able to participate in the fair. In 2018-19, Rojgar Melas were organized in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar.

Career counselling is also provided to all of the young people attending these job fairs. This gives the youth much needed support and guidance regarding the job opportunities that await them. It also gives them an idea of what kind of jobs they would be interested in.

It is always a good idea for them to go for something that they like and are interested in, as this guarantees a better rate of success in the field that they begin working in. Counselling also provides clarity to the family members of the youth.

The main goal is to encourage the employable youth that are settled in rural and semi-urban areas, to turn their skills into something that they can use for earning a regular income that is much more than that of a daily wage worker. This empowers them and grants them some level of financial stability. Please visit www.aisect.org for more information.
