How can I unblock a Netgear firewall?

by Jessica Weir Technical Support Associate
Netgear is one of those brands who provide a built in firewall in most of their routers. Router firewall is basically used for online protection; but sometimes, it can also disable you to access some applications. Now, to gain access to these applications you need to disable the router’s firewall. With that being said, you can rely on our Team for Netgear Support to provide you assistance.

We’ve given some steps down below through which you can easily resolve this issue without facing any further problems. We also want to clarify that these steps are given by our Team for Netgear Customer Support.

  • First of all, you need to open the “run” search box.
  • Now, in the search box, type in “cmd.exe” and press enter.
  • After that, you’ll notice a command prompt Window. Then, type in “ipconfig” and hit “enter”.
  • Now, you’ll be given some random numbers, note them down.
  • Enter those digits into your internet browser and also make sure not to close the command prompt.
  • Now, you’ll be prompted to enter your router’s name and password, then click on “ok” and then click on “security tab”.
  • After you’ve done that, click on “firewall rules” and then choose “add” to create a new rule.
  • Now, you need to choose “any” and then click on “allow anyways”.
  • Then, you need to enter your IP address. Now, click on “apply” and exit out of that page.
  • Click on “enable” option to activate the rule that you just created.
  • At last, click on “logout” and restart your system to apply the changes to your system.

We hope that these steps will provide some information regarding this whole procedure.
