by DAVIS BROWN PRC Agency

While COVID-19 continues to take center stage in world health news, another global epidemic rages on-continuing to destroy lives in its wake. This crisis is addiction to opioid painkillers. The number of families impacted by prescription opioid addiction grows exponentially, every year.

There Is Good News!

Just as the COVID-19 vaccines have given us hope for a return to our pre-pandemic lives, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) with Suboxone is a lifeline for people addicted to prescription painkillers like Vicodin, oxycontin, oxycodone, morphine and even heroin. MAT with prescription Suboxone is the Gold Standard in opioid addiction treatment.

Whether this is a first attempt at breaking an opioid addiction, or one of many tries, Dr. Jahan Chaudhry, founder of the Long Island Compassionate Medical Center in Holbrook, is successfully helping people emerge from under the dark cloud of addiction. MAT, he said, works fast-helping people return to productive lives.

"Medication Assisted Treatment with Suboxone, (a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone) is a ground-breaking treatment used to battle opioid use disorder once and for all," said Dr. Chaudhry. "It is giving new hope and a fresh start to so many."

Dr. Chaudhry, a certified addiction treatment and natural pain management physician, said now is the perfect time to take steps to kick your addiction and get back to the life you love.

Why is Now a Good Time to Find Out About MAT?

Many people are hesitant to seek help for their opioid use disorder because they feel embarrassed to admit they have a problem. Also, not all doctors are licensed to prescribe MAT, nor do they have the knowledge, training, experience and success that Dr. Chaudhry offers his patients.

Dr. Chaudhry and his staff offer:

What is Medication Assisted Treatment?

MAT is a multi-tiered proven strategy for combating opioid addiction. Dr. Chaudhry maintains MAT with FDA-approved medications Suboxone or Zubsolv (both combinations of buprenorphine and naloxone) in conjunction with behavior modification treatment and counseling, is incredibly effective in helping addicts get out from under the hold of opioids.

MAT is an outpatient program and there are no unpleasant visits to crowded public clinics. Dr. Chaudhry is an internist and regularly sees patients for a variety of medical conditions in his comfortable, private office in Holbrook. Additionally, he specializes in Medication Assisted Treatment and chronic pain management.

Suboxone and Zubsolv are extremely effective medications that normalize brain and body functions, blocking the body’s need for opioids It only takes a few days for the body to begin to loosen its grip on the need for an opioid fix. In turn, the person’s cravings for the drugs reduces significantly.

Dr. Chaudhry knows that people addicted to opioid painkillers are afraid of detoxing because withdrawal symptoms can be horrible. However, there are no uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms or cravings to manage with MAT, Dr. Chaudhry said.

The sublingual medication is administered in an easy-to-take film strip (similar to a breath strip). It’s placed under the tongue and dissolves quickly. “It’s completely safe and patients undergoing Medication Assisted Treatment are monitored closely, throughout the process,” the doctor added.

No other treatment has been shown to be as effective as MAT, when administered by a licensed practitioner like Dr. Chaudhry. In fact, it has an extraordinary success rate. A large study conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse showed Suboxone is an effective therapy in treating opioid addiction. In fact, according to NIDA Director Nora D. Volkow, MD, the study suggested that “patients addicted to prescription opioid painkillers can be effectively treated in primary care settings,” like the Long Island Compassionate Medical Center, with Suboxone.

“Suboxone mimics some of the effects of opioids safely while also reducing drug cravings,” Dr. Chaudhry explained. “While some people believe this protocol may be replacing one drug with another, there is a huge difference. Sub
