A 2005 Honda Accord sedan driver told me that his car, with mileage of about 160,000 km, using CM5 engine, was instable at idle, there must be something wrong with the engine.

After the pick-up, I used Honda HDS HIM, with the newest software version: V3.012.023 and detected two fault codes: P0511---idle speed control system failure and P2195--low A / F sensor signal. I tried to accelerate to 1 200 r / min ~ 2 500 r / min in neutral position, the engine speed was constantly changing, but came to be normal over 2 500 r / min. Then I shifted into driving gear and reverse gear, the engine speed was normal, no longer appears unstable phenomenon.
Because the meaning of P0511 is idle control system failure, I checked the relevant lines and intake system. All cylinder pressure was within the normal range after measurement. After replacing the throttle body, intake air temperature sensor and spark plugs, the failure occurs again after running for a while. Then I had to replace the electronic control unit and re-tested, the fault still occurs. Careful examination of the relevant line also found no abnormalities. Maintenance came to a deadlock.
Unexpectedly, I re-started the engine and found out the problem. There was no voltage signal in the line (black / red) leading ECU to an idle speed control valve, and it was not broken over. Therefore, along this line, I found the connector terminals exists loose connection, resulting in bad contacts, even worse, connectors was erosive.
Finally, I used obd2 scanner repaired the connector terminals, and above fault was shot.
