Healthcare Is A Right Not A Privilege

by Avadhesh Sharma SEO Analyst

If we look at the age-sex pyramid which is the basic indicator of giving us the knowledge of the age structure of a nation then we will realise in 50 years’ time India will enter into a phase where there will be more older people than the young population.

Statistics says that if India achieves such a stage then there is also a possibility that a lot of the aged people will be the prey of undernourishment and will not receive proper health care.

The General Picture

Taking into consideration the statistics we have in hand, we can easily state that there is a huge gap that needs to be filled in the health sector. One of the major sectors where the Human Development process works are the health sector. India’s health sector is failing their most precious resources, the people, for a long time now. The year 2021 is bringing the picture to frame because of a global pandemic.

Underprivileged and Health Care

In a country where normal people do not get the correct treatment the situation of an underprivileged adult or an old-aged is not worth speaking about. The basic health care that can be provided by the Government were given in several developed areas of the country mostly in urban hospitals sometimes free of cost but with the pandemic season and the rising wave the health sector is saturated and the basic resources to treat them are not available at this point.

During this time the NGOs have come up and they are trying to help out the old-aged people of the country in whatever way possible. To understand what the healthcare NGOs are catering to we have to understand the structure of the NGOs

Types of NGOs

There are various types of NGOs all over the world however according to World Bank there are mainly two types of NGOs

1. Operational - These particular types of NGOs focus on working with people and developing the social conditions around them. They also contribute in various ways to promote the social standards and dignity of an individual. They work and fight with any kind of Economic issues and social evils.

2. Advocacy - This is that particular type that advocates and helps in promoting the causes. They do not generally take any hardcore measures. Howsoever they try to make people understand the need for development and the need for their rights which they are deprived of.

The healthcare NGOs fall under the domain of the Operational sector and one prominent name is the Red Cross association.

NGOs and Pandemic

If we look at the outspread of the deadly pandemic then the Roles of NGOs in Global Health Research have been indispensable. These Global NGOs have contributed a substantial part of their experience and time in this dangerous and tiresome research. Their experiences to tackle this harmful virus and their way to deal with the mental pressures of the homeless needy people have added substantial benefit to Global Researches.

Attempt to Improve the Picture

NGOs are continuously going out of their league to improve the picture of the health sector in whatever way possible. Many medical students have started their organisation with the motto to visit some of the well-recognised old age homes and to provide them with the best treatment as far as possible. They have always kept in mind that health care is their birthright and no one can take that away from them. The NGOs have gone down to the streets and have visited the poor and needy and provided them with the treatment required. Likewise, they have provided a substantial part of their lives in these humanitarian works.
