This is the day people worship Lord Hanuman with his mantras, devotional songs, recital of Hanuman Chalisa and reading the Vedic stories about birth, pastimes and adventures of Hanuman.

Hanuman Jayanit: Significance and the meaning of Jayanti:

The Sanskrit word ‘Jayanti, jay means victory and anta means in the end, signifying the eventual (in the end) conquest of hostile forces by the divine. Lord Hanuman being the eternal servitor of Lord Rama assisted Him in uprooting the aggressive elements such as demonic kings. It’s rare to find an Indian household that hasn’t read, heard about Hanuman, the monkey god mentioned in several Vedic scriptures such as the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Puranas and some of Jain ancient texts.

Hanuman’s birth, adventures and surrender to Lord Rama

Born to mother Anjana and father Kesari, Lord Hanuman as given in the Ramayana is the divine incarnation of Lord Shiva who was pleased by the austere penance of Anjana to have a son.  King of heaven Indra once struck the jaw of Hanuman during his childhood. This event gave him the name Hanuman, hanu means jaw and man means mant (disfigured). In the epic Ramayana, his adventures to bring back Mother Sita are sung by devotees across the world in the form of Hanuman Chalisa and other related scriptures.
He played one of the greatest roles in fetching Sita, the divine consort of Lord Rama. However, Sita preferred to be unchained by Her husband after killing the demonic King Ravana who had imprisoned Sita.

Epitome of strength, energy and devotion to master:

Hanuman is the emblem of strength and energy and can assume any form at his sweet will and can perform marvelous tasks in moments. He is worshipped as a deity with enchanted powers and the ability to conquer malicious spirits.
In the Mahabharata it is mentioned that Bhima once encountered Lord Hanuman in a forest who blocked his way.  Shocked to see the power of this monkey man, Bhima requested Hanuman to reveal his true identity. Bhima upon finding out the truth about Hanuman who is the eternal servitor of Lord Rama humbly asked him to support the Pandavas on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.  Later, Hanuman by being the divine flag on Arjuna’s chariot helped him fight the hostile forces.

Known by several namaes:

He is known by several names such as Anjaniputra (son of Anjani), Pavanputra (son of wind-god Vayu) and in the Ram Raksha Stotra, he is mentioned as Manojavam (the one who is as fast as mind), Jitendriyam (the one who has complete control of his sense), Danujvana Krushanum, the one who is the destroyer of forces of demons.
The highest quality Lord Hanuman ever possesses is his being ferocious and at the same time being humble. He is always humble and compassionate for all the living entities. But when it comes to fighting the demoniac, he leaves no stone unturned.
