Hands-On Learning: The Importance of Practical Training in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

by Neha Gupta Neha Tales

It is advantageous when students learn the technicalities of aircraft repair while working with real aircraft, tools, and equipment. It is a direct way of building their confidence, and a chance to apply the theoretical learnings in a real-world environment.

Students learn to find and resolve issues, thereby progressing in problem-solving capabilities. Students who have joined colleges under the Sha-Shib Group of Institutions are familiarised with the latest tools, equipment, and methods, thus grooming them to world-class AMEs.

Practical training in an AME course encourages students to work as a team, and this improves their clear communication in an ever-happening aviation industry. Airline companies are hiring AMEs who have practical experience so that the candidates are contributing from day one. This is also the best way to grasp industry practices in the aircraft maintenance engineering field.

Sha-Shib Group’s colleges have facilities such as state-of-the-art classrooms, well-equipped workshops, and advanced simulation labs which vastly improve the learning environment. Facilities include aircraft hangars, maintenance workshops, and specialised laboratories.

The institutions also have an avionics lab, engine lab, and materials lab.

The faculty can teach students with the most sought-after theoretical concepts. Students are familiarised with industry standards, as well as to real-life job experiences of aircraft maintenance engineers. Students are using the same tools and equipment that are used by AME professionals.

Faculties train students in such a way that they understand the reasoning behind each procedure. While training, our faculties use maintenance manuals and instructional videos for better understanding. The common collaboration of AMEs to work in teams originates from AME college times, and it improves workplace productivity.

Students receive real-world experience from tenured faculties of aviation colleges under the Sha-Shib Group. The primary goal of aircraft maintenance engineering is to be ready for the need to prepare for the certification exams required to become an AME.
