by Shubh S. Digital Expert
Concerns like hair fall and frizz, when it
comes to haircare problems, are key issues that we face during most seasons,
especially during the summer. During this season, due to the overpowering heat
of the sun and extreme humidity in the air, we have to take effective steps to
take care of our hair to protect it from being damaged and to improve the
overall health of our hair.
Read below as we take you through what exactly
is hair fall and frizz, the reasons that we face these concerns along with
expert hair fall treatments that you can take to effectively tackle and prevent
these haircare concerns, leaving you with nourished hair for healthier tresses.
What Is Hair Fall And Frizz?
Hair tends to grow differently for
different people and at various frequencies. On an average, our hair grows
around 1.5 inches every month. Shedding of our hair is a part of the natural balance
wherein some hair falls out and other grow in. Human tends to shed 50 to 100
single hair strands each day however, when this balance is interrupted, it
leads to hair loss.
On the contrary, when you have dry, damaged and
chemically treated hair, the hair cuticles rise, wherein the moisture enters
the hair strands. This leads to making the hair frizzy, and leaving it looking
undernourished, dry and damaged.
Causes of Hair Loss and Frizzy Hair
Bodily
changes such as puberty, pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause and nutritional
deficiencies are some of the common factors that contribute to hair fall. In
those instances when the hair fall is not from the roots, the way you wash,
manage and dry your hair on a regular basis causes hair damage. Additionally,
other factors like genetics, dryness and humidity can be some of the causes
that to lead to frizzy hair. As per Ayurveda, you can take two important
haircare steps to tackle these concerns. The first being a regular scalp
massage with herb-enriched Ayurvedic head massage oils and the second one is
indulging in hair masking, once a week to deeply condition your hair.
Prevention of Hair Fall and Frizz
When
you notice your hair falling, the first thing you instantly do is change your
hair products without remembering that the external look of your hair is
directly related to your internal health and lifestyle. If your hair loss is
sudden, this could be a result of crash weight loss diets that tend to remove
certain food groups, which ultimately leads to nutritional deficiencies.
As
per Ayurveda, your hair tends to fall due to the aggravation of Pitta dosha in
your body. This aggravation is caused due to unhealthy lifestyle habits and
poor dietary choices such as an excessive consumption of tea, coffee, spicy
foods, dry fruits, non-vegetarian meals, alcohol and oily foods. To prevent
hair fall, it is important to have your diet enriched with essential nutrients
like Zinc, Biotin, Vitamin D, Iron and Protein.
If
you have frizzy hair, which is difficult to manage, below are some recommended
steps that you can take to deal with this type of hair:
- If
you have wavy and curly hair, try and not brush your hair when it is dry. We
recommend using a wide toothcomb to brush your hair when it is damp but not
soaking wet.
- To
prevent dryness, breakage and hair frizz, sleep on silk pillowcases.
- To
prevent split ends, breakage and frizz, trim your hair every 4-8 weeks.
- Try
to wash your hair with cold water instead of hot, as hot water tends to strip
off natural oils from the scalp, thereby leading to frizz.
- Go
easy on using hair styling products and treatments using curlers and
straighteners, as this will only lead to more breakage.
Finally,
we recommend the below hair care routine for you to get healthy and
well-nourished hair:
Step 1: Oiling
To
keep your hair healthy and strong, oiling is recommended at least 2-3 times a
week. We suggest using oils that are infused with natural and potent
ingredients like Bhringraj herb, Brahmi, Anantmool and Black Sesame oil as
these will help to prevent hair fall, control dandruff and promote hair health.
Step 2 – Cleansing
Natural
cleansers infused with ingredients like Bhringraj, Shikakai, Amla, Mulethi,
Japapatti and Brahmi will control hair-thinning, breakage and will promote
regrowth. Hair care products enriched with such ingredients will also control
dandruff.
Step 3 – Conditioning
Again,
using conditioners with natural ingredients like Coconut Milk, Liquorice,
Bhringraj, Kalonji seeds and Shikakai will work effectively to nourish the
hair, all the while stimulating the hair roots, improving hair texture and
repairing dry, dull and damaged hair.
Step 4 – Hair Masking for Added Nourishment
A key step you can add in your hair care
routine is the application of natural hair masques once or twice a week to
deeply condition your hair, leave the hair feeling lustrous and voluminous.
