Do you really need to follow a special routine for hair care in changing season? Just as you change skincare routine with changing seasons, you should also evolve hair care. Seasonal changes have a huge impact on hair.

Winter

As winter approaches, cold dry air affects hair. This demands special hair care in the changing season. It strips hair of natural moisture and makes them fragile. Lack of moisture weakens hair and makes strands brittle.

The Solution – Weekly olive/almond oil massages will help moisturizing hair. Invest in a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

Home Remedy

Add a few drops of pure olive oil to 2 tablespoons of raw organic honey. Mix the solution well and apply it on hair strands. Cover with a shower cap for 20 minutes and wash off with tap water. This remedy is very helpful in removing the harsh effects of winter. Honey is antiseptic and antibacterial in nature which helps provide a barrier against scalp conditions such as dandruff, eczema, dermatitis, etc.

Summer

You need special haircare in changing season, especially summer. Harsh UV rays are harmful to health. These rays can dry out your hair, weakening strands. Exposure to sunlight also affects melanin production resulting in premature greying. UV rays have a bleaching action on the hair. They degrade the natural protein of hair depriving them of health and shine.

The Solution – It is important to carry an umbrella or wear a hat while stepping out. Avoid direct sunlight and use special shampoos and conditioners formulated for counteracting the negative effects of the sun.

Home Remedy

Mix 2 tablespoons of aloe vera with the juice of one grated onion. Mix and apply on the scalp for 20 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo. Aloe vera strengthens hair and adds sheen. The gel counteracts the bad effects of sunlight on hair and repairs dry hair. Onion juice fights off hair fall treat infected scalp and help in hair growth. Use this remedy once in a week as a part of your hair care in changing season routine.

Monsoon

The monsoon is beautiful. However, it doesn't do anything beautiful to your hair. It makes hair frizzy and unmanageable. Most of the hair fall also happens during monsoon. During this time, there is an increased water amount in the air. Porous strands have a tendency to pull up this moisture and swell. This causes frizz. Additionally, damp air also increases moisture levels on scalp inviting unwanted bacteria. Roots of hair weaken due to moisture resulting in heavy hair fall.

The Solution – Use mild citrus-based shampoo to wash your hair as a part of hair care in changing season. Make sure you wash hair at least twice a week to combat greasiness imparted by humid weather. Apply warm coconut oil to nourish the scalp and remove frizz.

Home Remedy Rain can make your hair lifeless and limp. Prepare a paste of 15-20 crushed fresh hibiscus leaves, 2-3 teaspoons mint paste, and fresh lemon juice (half cup). Mix thoroughly and apply to the scalp. Allow it to rest for 30 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo. Your hair will come alive.
