There are several ways of saving money on accommodation, one of the most common ones is to share your space with someone else, or if the destination is not too far from your home, you can plan your travel in such a way that you can travel from home and return back home on the same day thereby completely eliminated the need to stay in a hotel at all.

Membership programs and loyalty programs are quite useful when it comes to saving money on travel expenses. Design applicable on accommodation facilities primarily, but you can also get them for ride sharing services and meals as well.
