God is My Shield
by Lukas Patrisian musician1 When He Fled From His Son Absalom. 2 O Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! 3 Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” Selah [A word of uncertain meaning, occurring frequently in the Psalms; possibly a musical term] 4 But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift [Or LORD, my Glorious One, who lifts] up my head. 5 To the LORD I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. Selah 6 I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me. 7 I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side. 8 Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. 9 From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on
your people. Selah (Psalm 3:1-9)
King David was having a very tough problem. What is it? It is his son whom he loved named Absalom rebelled and wanted to take the throne of David. Well certainly very sad is not it, when we are hurt by someone, especially if the person who hurt us precisely the people we love.
But David did not despair. He still relies on God. He continues to believe that the Lord Jesus is the shield, all-powerful shelter and true source of help. That's why David was not afraid even though he had to face a lot of enemies and difficulty.
Are you feeling sad because somebody hurt you? Remember that is vain when we hopes and trusts in men, so let's just lean on the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our eternal refuge.
