Go Gaga about Tanya Sharma

India is a diverse land that enthuses many an artist. Every artist to come out of India owes his/her success to a deep-rooted Indian influence on his or her psyche. With a multitude of cultures, India will never have a dearth to inspire. Fashion is one of the biggest artistic endeavors that India has inspired. Fashion owes a lot to traditional designs, fabrics, attire and motifs. Indian fashion designers will always make it a point to highlight the Indian influence in their designs.

One such fashion designer from India, who proudly showcases her Indian inspiration in her fashion line, is Tanya Sharma. She believes that every designer must have a signature style. This distinct style is what will help a designer and his/her label to stand out from the crowd. With this belief firmly in mind, she started her own designer label called “Gaga” after graduating from her alma mater, The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai.

Tanya Sharma draws inspiration from Indian culture and colors. However, what makes her work distinct and memorable is that she likes to play with traditional Indian textiles and contemporary embroidery designs. She also loves to use bright colors like yellow, orange and blue and she uses quite a bit of earthy tones as well. She uses these colors and styles to bring out the philosophy of love and happiness, which she has based her entire line on.Gaga is contemporary, chic, dynamic, vibrant and extremely classy.

Unlike other Indian fashion designers, she is not afraid to combine unusual elements from the world of fashion. Because of this, she is known for many innovative styles, which takes nerve to carry off. The best way to illustrate this statement is to look at her very original tuxedo sari or the achkan kaftan. These unique styles best showcase her love for dynamic combinations of Indian textiles, embroidery and contemporary styles. Also, she has also taken her innovation to a whole new level by merging masculine and feminine styles and fabrics. It doesn’t get any more unique than this.

Tanya Sharma has proven to the world that she has her own unique identity and the world has certainly started to take note. She has presented her collections at several fashion weeks and has received rave reviews. She is on her way to making it big but she has a firm head on her shoulders when it comes to competition. She believes that no two people are the same; everyone has their unique experiences that shape the way they think and ultimately design. So as long as a designer stays true to him/herself, there is no need to worry about competition.
