Get to Exciting Places with Your Miami Holidays

by Daisy Wilkinson Travel Guides

When you’re in Miami, you’ll have plenty of reasons to be excited. It has a greater majority of Cuban Americans and is nicknamed the ‘Capital of Latin America’, which means, you can expect a lot of salsa and other Latin offerings. There are sun-kissed beaches, art-deco buildings, a thriving arts scene and a thrilling nightlife in store for you in this gorgeous American city. Even though it is known primarily for its charming beaches, it would still look beautiful even without them. The attractive port of Miami accommodates some of the largest cruise ships in the world and is also known as the ‘Cruise Capital of the World’.

The winter season arrives in the city during the month of December and continues until February. If you want to enjoy cheap holidays to Miami during this season, you’ll have to book your packages or hotel stays several months in advance. The best time to visit the city is its spring season from March to May. If you don’t want to share your space on the beaches with college students, you’ll have to visit in late April or early May. Summer from June to August is preferred mostly by families for making a trip to Miami. Although there are greater possibilities of hurricanes during the period between September and November, you can have greater savings on hotel accommodations during this season.

Besides the popular attractions like Miami Beach and the Art Deco Historic District, there are many other interesting places you can explore during your Miami holidays. One of them is the Key Biscayne, which attracts visitors with its beautiful parks and enchanting beaches. An offshore reef in Crandon Park protects the shores from big waves and provides wonderful opportunities to enjoy some swimming. The park also has a family amusement centre and a nature centre.

You’ll be amazed to see the stone carvings created by Edward Leedskalnin, a Latvian American eccentric while exploring the Coral Castle. He had created the carvings using his own home-made tools between 1923 and 1951. A visit to this place during your Miami holidays would also give you the chance to witness a massive stone gate besides some fascinating creations, such as stone chairs and tables. How these masterpieces were created and moved still remains a mystery, as Edward Leedskalnin never allowed anyone to watch him working on those creations.

Zoo Miami is yet another fantastic attraction you can visit during your time spent in the city. This zoo is home to over 3,000 wild animals, including about 40 endangered species. All these animals have been allowed to survive and thrive as they would in their natural habitats. This makes it stand apart from all the traditional zoos. If you’re travelling with children, they’ll find plenty of options in entertainment besides watching all the wild animals. One of them is a water-themed play area, where the kids can splash around to their hearts’ content. This zoo also has a large collection of orchids and over a thousand species of plants and trees.
