Do you know you can get paid for being a caregiver in Georgia? Check out this material to learn how.

Griffin, Georgia-based private care provider Home Nurse Inc. released a guide on how primary caregivers like yourself can get compensated for providing home care to their elderly or disabled loved ones through the Structured Family Caregiving (SFC) program.

The new resource explained that most informal caregivers in Georgia may be eligible for financial support but don’t know how to claim the benefits.

Recent studies show that 1 in every 5 Americans has provided unpaid care to a family member in the last 12 months. 45% of the caregivers said they had experienced at least one financial strain because of their caregiving role.

Through the Structured Family Caregiving program, you will receive non-taxable, weekly compensation to help ease some of the financial burdens you may have had to shoulder because of your caregiving.

Besides this, experienced SFC professionals from Home Nurse Inc. will also train you on home healthcare best practices, providing you with the skills and techniques to better care for your loved ones.

To qualify for these benefits, you must satisfy the SFC requirements, including living with the care recipient and being at least 18 years of age.

Other criteria mentioned in the guide include being the care recipient’s biological relative, like a son, granddaughter or related through marriage as a daughter-in-law, son-in-law, among others. The person being cared for must also meet the requirements for Georgia Medicaid and be a participant under the SOURCE or CCSP waiver program.

As a family caregiver, you typically provide various services that improve the recipient’s quality of life, from activities of daily living to assisting with medical tasks. Many of them qualify for the SFC program, including house chores, bathing, meal preparation, dressing, eating, personal hygiene, as well as managing medication and transporting the care recipient to appointments.
