Future with adaption of Climate Change

by Sanjukta Singh Earth Care Awards
Climate change can be very unpredictable as observed in several studies. Even as global ocean temperatures are rising to their highest temperature in recorded history, many parts of the ocean, near where ice is melting exceptionally fast are resulting in rapid cooling and in turn slowing down the circulation of ocean currents and sending weather patterns into a whirl. Various natural disasters like floods, droughts, storms, etc. have increased intensity and frequency due to climate change. This has an adverse impact on livelihoods, food security and affects the ways of protection of natural resources. More extreme droughts, intense rainfall, increased forest fires and tropical cyclones are projected for our climate’s warming. Worsening of extreme weather conditions can already be. These disasters are known to destroy critical infrastructures, adversely affect crops and other important assets of the community which results in messing with livelihoods and aggravate poverty. Each delayed action from our side results in more damage to lives, ecosystems, and economies. Land-base ice sheets and glaciers, when melted contribute hugely to rise of sea level.

Coastal People have an increased risk of getting flooded, affecting lives of millions of people because the population is increasing rapidly on coasts. Sea levels could rise as much as a meter if we don’t curb down emissions, by the end of the century. The climate change impact of this small rise is huge. Once-in-a-hundred-year floods could occur every year. Erosion could result in moving of sandy coastlines by as much as hundred metres inland. This can result in deteriorate of trillion dollars of buildings and affecting millions of life as well.

Recycling and reusing of materials of our daily use are the initial steps; addition to it would reduce the use of them. This not only is limited to plastic and paper, but stuff like energy and water are included. The ways to save earth should be thought in every possible way. If you are looking forward helping to save the environment, you can do so by starting with limiting your usage of resources. Root causes are addressed by Mitigation by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, while adaptation seeks to reduce the potential risks arising from climate change. Both approaches as well as spreading the Earth Care News regarding this prospect will be necessary, because even though we supposedly come up with ways to reduce the emissions in say next decade, adaptation would still be a vital aspect of dealing with the restraining global changes that already are in effect. If we take some action to drastically reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, there is a tiny bit chance that we can reduce the rise in average global temperatures. This doesn’t mean that changes in climate would suddenly stop, but with these issues in mind, we should be able to manage and adapt to these changes better.
